I'm sure the haters would rather be watching Time Team or The logging on to some shipping website to see what ships are due in at the docks....

Nah, some of us will watch it so we can patiently explain to the loverz why it's so shit. 🙂

Is there a race with a really really close finish this evening?

Or driving fast cars properly instead of 'now look at this Porsche that I need a 40m wide runway to corner round'?

Get Plato onboard

People posting how much they dislike Top Gear on a thread about said programme, strange.

I laughed when he took the Corolla offroad
the rest I scowled at
even May couldn't be bothered with the launch of the new reasonably priced car
I'm happy though as this means the luverz will really struggle to find something good to say about it

I was disappointed they didn't take the 205, 5 and XR2 out but still enjoyed the rest of it.

I quite like Top Gear.

It's not always great, but its much more fun to watch than Fifth Gear.

It can't be easy coming up with new stuff to do.

Cars are like many thinks in life........ it's much more fun to do than watch.

Warwick Davies taking the p!ss out of Hammond for being 'a bit short' was brilliant.

That boat looked a really awful place to be. At least May understood he was just ballast and didn't try to pretend he could contribute in any way.

Jimmy Carr's "super powers" comment was brilliantly un-politically correct

I can imagine that being on an AC45 in waves is a fairly tough place to be for 3 hours let alone 10 or 12. TBF the guys sailing it did a proper job. I was waiting for a bit with some flat water so could really let it go but there just wasn't any.

Was average but I now know I easily afford a small hot hatch and cover the extra fuel cost.

In about 6 months, 5th will feature a race between a car and a boat.

the test was the worst bit, partly because they had the GTI, 5 Turbo and XR2 in the studio but didn't use them - very disappointing. but mainly because I just didn't believe what they said about the ST being better. they gave no real reason why it was any better which just makes me cynical about why it was chosen as the best - probably because it's not French.

Thats a pretty tragic indictment on your own life there Sir. Using your time to do nothing less than antagonise someone else, sad - very sad.

I wouldn't call it a proper test. Most people buy hot hatches for the fun they are on B roads and not smooth race tracks. Saying the ST drives better on track because it's 15mm lower sprung means it could be a crashy tramlining mess on the road.
Would have been much better if it had been done is Wales or the Isle of Man.

Ah yes three cars.

All three were FUGLY. What happened to the fun/cheeky-looking super-mini?

Yet it gets the best reviews by other places too for handling.

All the more reason to test it on the road & justify their ranking it alongside the other classics.

I kind of agree in the sense they should have done both but it's been along time since Top Gear was for watching serious car reviews.

Would anyone buy a 20k car on the basis of a Top Gear review!

Every review I've seen of the ST against it's French rivals has said it is the best- including one in Evo on Welsh country roads. And the American mags love it too.

"Sir Ben Ainslie? Tell him I loved him in Gandhi..."

Brilliant.

It's fair enough if you don't like it; but do you have to be seen to not like it?

And Hora always comes on a Top Gear thread and says the answer is "5th Gear". It really isn't.

Both are available, I choose my favourite. Jason Plato won't change my mind.

In certain communist countries you have a choice, one source of entertainment. Sadly in automotive you also have one source- Top Gear.

Hence I HAVE to watch it. Everytime I go to the in laws I sit there catching up on Mike Brewer etc 8)

I like cars. If a presenter told me how many valves it had, torque figures, how it shifted through gears, how lift off would unsettle it - boy I'd sit there for hours.
