paypal and the code just woke up again 5 mins after deadline -

bought replacement motors for my gigantic triple-motored 3600w vacuum cleaner so that it can suck the floorboards clean through the carpet again

I've not rode my bike for 6 months, in fact I'm not sure if it's still where I think I left it.

But if you view your PP transaction on PP it will show something along the lines of Funding source: £X.XX GBP - UK Turbo Coupon #CUK20 along with the amount charged to your card/bank account.

Well that's annoying, entered the code at 9:50, PayPal went through ok, confirmed purchase in eBay site.
10:17, receive email saying that my payment could not be processed, everything is back in my basket and the code doesn't work anymore.

I'll ring the helpline tomorrow, last time eBay did one of these offers they were pretty good at honouring it even when it crashed.

I'm still trying to work out if I paid ~£90 or ~£110 for a pair of 4.0 snakeskin Jumbo Jims and a pair of SV13F innertubes... Different e-mails/Ebay/Paypal are telling me conflicting info after the first attempt at paying just before the supposed deadline failed! 😕

Decided against the Exotic carbon riser in the end, the monthly budget is a little tight, covering what I now consider overpriced private rented accommodation and putting 200 squids per month into a Help To Buy ISA.

Nearly bought an Abus Bordo lock to supplement my Abus granit-X D-lock, for fear of the cost of replacing a nicked fat wheel and tyre when I start commuting in about a weeks time, but the amount of variations and what seemed to be uncompetitive prices on Ebay prevented me from buying what was a random thought in the last 20-odd minutes of the promo. 😳

log into paypal (not the mobile app) and the discount should be applied in the transaction summary

Hmm.

I bought two items - separately - last night and received eBay notifications and PP notifications immediately.

The PP notifications specifically show the discount in brackets.

Confusingly when logging into PP the line item is full price but when you click on each you see the discount has been applied - will keep an eye on what actually is taken:

Your purchase
SunRace Wide Range Cassette MX3 11-42t 10 speed MTB Super Wide - Shimano & SRAM £63.95
Item number
Voucher-negative £12.79
Postage and Packaging£0.00
Tax£0.00
Purchase total£51.16
Fee£0.00
Total£51.16

worked for me and appears in paypal as expected and have confirmation email, got a bargin on some already discounted camera equipment.

Are offers like this really profitable for paypal? i'm sure more things get bought but the discount seems quite generous.

From another forum:

eBay/Paypal make around 20% off sellers, they waived that for a little while, massively increased their clicks and ad revenue, massively increased purchases, reminded people they were there and almost certainly pushed up auction prices (not buy it now obviously) thus increasing the fees they just gave away.

eBay is approx 10% (+/- dependent on category and your account type). Capped at £250.
Paypal is approx 4%.

Bastards. Order cancelled by the seller. 'Oversold and no more stock due'

Oh well, couldn't afford it anyway.

Ended up with some carbs for my derelict and consequently chronically bunged-up Bandit, and a set of Mr Men books for the sprog.

Wife now upset that I didn't buy her something as well !

Thanks for this OP, I bought a set of car tyres using mine and the Mrs account. Saved £80 - it took a few attempts to go through and shows on the invoice as the full amount but the PP receipt will show the full amount minus the voucher discount.

£50 saved on a cordless drill I've been meaning to buy for weeks. Took three attempts at purchasing but parcel has been dispatched and I'll get it Monday.
Cheers Bongo!

Mine messed up. The discount was shown as I was confirming the purchase but then when I checked my PayPal the full amount was taken, no mention of vouchers or anything.
Called eBay at lunch time and they will get back in touch within 14 days .....

if you expand the paypal transaction, what does it say? the headline amount on mine was for the full amount but it shows in the detail the discount.

despite the fact they don't have it and don't seem to have refunded me yet..

@daviek

Did you expand the transaction to double check?

For example, if I just look at my Paypal history it's just this:

But if I click on it I get the full info:

Edit: This is what happens when you start to write a post, then get distracted looking at cats gifs on the internet.

Thanks for the PSA
