Yes
with one of their SIM cards?
Depends how you bought it, Sim Free then yes, if you bought it as part of a monthly contract it will depend on who you bought it with.
Thank P-jay it’s unlocked so can go with any one.
Depends on the US network as some of them use frequencies not used in the UK .

I thought about that, but I'm sure all iPhones come with all frequencies enabled.

Sprint or Verison - they use CDMA which probably won't work with an older UK phone.
IIRC (please check before you buy anything) newer iphones support all the networks.
You could buy a three PAYG sim here and have it on feel at home terms. This means any calls, data etc you have here work in america for no extra cost. It's what we did when we went on holiday there
My iphone 6 bought sim free worked in the US-last October.

That's what I do - last time I got back from the States I got a text saying I'd saved £2500 in roaming charges ( I was there a week).
Also do the UK Three Mobile SIM 'Go Roam' thing is the USA. My daughter is out there, get the impression that US SIMs are more expensive than UK ones?
..
Three SIM for the win. Worked a treat in Florida at least.
I've been on Three for years now, it's brilliant abroad
EE do a tariff where you can use your bundled minutes, data etc in the USA and Canada same as you can use them in Europe.
It was worth it for me.
