My new van is white, keep it nice and clean and tidy etc, however I've not yet took to it with the polish, having never owned a white vehicle before didn't know whether it would be a waste of time?
Brand new, or new to you? Important for Wax/polish decision making.
My white van is going in to a detailer for a two day winter protection detail next month. Never put any polish on my old Transit and I think the rust got in quicker than it should have.
Doubt it'll look much better but hoping the ceramic coating will mean it'll not hold the winter salt as badly and will be easier to clean.
Why not - makes cleaning them easier and protects the paint
I clayed and waxed our white Polo when it was about a year old. It used to be a bugger to clean but nothing sticks to it anymore. Worth doing every 6 months or so I reckon.

Polishing removes a fine layer of paint. Waxing adds a coat on top of the paint.
If the van is new and you plan to keep it for any length of time then it's well worth spending a few ££ and getting it treated by a detailer, the paintwork on my 3yr old caddy was pockmarked with imperfections (brake dust/particles embedded in the paint) so i gave it to a mate with a detailing business OCD Detailing for a couple of days to do his magic, it came back looking like a different van and with the coating on the paintwork any dirt/road grime just washes/falls off with a quick hose, no need to wash. It was treated june 2017 and it still looks pristine a year later despite driving on very muddy galloway roads and around the farm/forestry roads, it must be a magic ceramic coating as no matter how filthy it gets a quick spray with the hose and it comes up like new
I reckon polish once a yr (maybe twice if you have time) & give it a decent wax when you can.
Wax probably more important than the polish if you want to keep the paintwork in good condition.
Right, so I've learnt something today, was and polish are not the same. It's 8 weeks old I washed it on Saturday whilst at work and it's still looking nice and clean.

However some of the fly/bug deposits on the mirrors and bonnet were an absolute bastard to get off even with the the jet wash up close.
So what do we recommend, a wax or polish and what make?
Life is too short to polish a vehicle.
^^^I agree but if it makes washing it easier then it's gotta be worth it. 90 mins to wash the bastid on Saturday!

To get off bug deposits try a tumber dryer sheet & a little water.

Only in the crazy world of cars. And "detailing"? wtf happened to valeting?
I suppose when they talk about polishing they effectively mean a fine grinding paste.
Just waxoyle the outside 🙂

Then don't wash it either. Its a van. HTH

Valeting? Wtf happened to Bob-a-job week?
Chap up the road has an Audi Q3 in contemporary brilliant white. Looks good but it really accentuates the shut lines they look like they've been drawn on with marker pen
contemporary brilliant white
You mean it's white, but only right now?
Confusingly most polishes these days are actually closer to sealants, fillers and waxes...
