Go to the Curry Mile for a curry.

Visit some pubs and drink real beer.

Visit the Museum of Science & Industry.

You're going to gave to be a bit more specific really if you want some tailored recommendations.

there are so many places you might need to be specific, the tapas on deansgate is really nice, demitris further down is also good, I'd personally go to somewhere like Akbar for a curry. better food that most of the rusholme restaurants which can be a bit variable and generally over-rated I think.
You could literally walk around the city centre and fall into any type of restaurant you like, or the chop house is good for carnivorous types.

El Rincon de Rafa just off St. John Street is well worth a visit. Bit of a hidden gem.

as all the others have said, there are loads of restaurants in manchester now, main areas are the Northern Quarter (more relaxed) and Spinningfields (slightly more formal) but take your pick

as for stuff to do

MOSI
HOME:MCR (big new arts development and indie cinema)
Whitworth Art Gallery
Central Library
IMAX at the printworks (depending on what is on)
Football museum (not been yet myself so can't promise)
Bike shops, other shops
pubs

Solita is superb, as is Demitris. Comedy Store is round the corner from there too.
