Its quite funny that I read Talkphotography and end up finding much better photographs over here! Does it mean mountainbikers are out there with their cameras more often than some other people?

[img] [/img]

Taken with an Old Nikon F5 with a 85mm f1.8 lens! Great camera shame its soo heavy!

OOh, and by the way .duncan, love the remote flash into the umbrella shot. Looks like a marketing shot for a magazine cover. Are any of these stock shots or are you pro? It's brill! In fact, your top 3 are fab.

Here's another just to keep things ticking along:

Excellent thread.

How do you do those ones that are B&W but just have one focal point in colour? (Like the brilliant chain link one on page 1)??

You need to create a layer using Photoshop (or similar). Using a selection tool like the magic wand, select all the pixels you want (like all the gold-coloured pixels in the chain example). This takes a bit of patience and some tweaking of the settings to get it just so. You then create a new layer with the selected pixels, de-saturate the background layer and you end up with something like this:

That one is a bit crude because the selection is quite rough - I got bored.

Also, if the thing you want to highlight is the only thing of that colour in the pic, you might be able to just desaturate all the other colours.

Grum - love that first one, at first glance I thought 'blimey, what crap composition, that gert big rock takes up half the fra... hang on a sec, what's that on the rock??' I like the way it draws the focus from the scenery to the carvings...

Beaumaris fireworks

All clicky. Really annoyed that with the exception of the odd one, I'm still about 6 months behind with my processing! I've got much better lurking as RAW on my HD, but never any time to do anything with them. I guess it's better that than never any time to get out to take photos in the first place though...

The Anglesey shot is great imo. I've got literally thousands of RAW files on my puter. Most of em are rubbish though!

I like these - they capture our twins beautifully I think...

Evie

They are both just snaps though, but happened to work out nicely - technically there are plenty of things I would change.

Cheers Grum. As it looks like I'll be out of work in June, and thanks to visa issues may not be starting in Australia for some time yet, I may have quite a lot of time to edit photos. I certainly won't be able to afford to drive anywhere nice to take any more...

My first experiments with black & white.
Taken at the crash site of B29 Superfortress serial no 44-62276, which crashed below Beinn Tharsuinn near Strachur, Argyll, in January 1949.

I like it, but constructive comment welcomed.

Some great pics here. Grum - really like both of those - been back for third look now! Agree with comments above re the first - it's a grower! Second just looks amazingly peaceful. Mostly though, I think I like them as they don't look processed to death - so many landscape shots do now ๐Ÿ™
