Doug - I like that Golspie pic, too. The bike draws you in buy the distant landscape is sweeeet.

From atop Ben Nevis
+1

Sometimes I wish I had a better camera / ability, but I sat and stared at it for long enough to burn it into my brain.

Usually I don;t comment on photos threads, not really sure why. However some of the work here is just brilliant! I made a list of the people I would like to thank 😆

Stuartie_c
That watch shot is amazing, simple, but such a good shot!

Drac
Castle shot is brilliant, crisp and great composition.

Plant
They are all great! The drop one is amazing, timing is supurb.

Dudie
Thought they looked like Tryfan, excellent refeltions.

_tom_
Best in the thread I think, whats the story behind this?

Now for a few of mine from this last month:

rather pleased with this one taken last Thursday with the phone. Got one or two others I took at the weekend that I'm very chuffed with, but they're not on Flickr yet.

A very high standard of photography everyone - well done 🙂

The quality is gash (Blackberry, what can I say), and there's nothing well executed about it.

However, I had just ridden 140 miles on a filthy January day with a group of lads from my (road) club, and wanted to capture the coal miner look when I got home.

So, with 5 days to go, why don't you enter this year's PX3 competition? Pro & Am judging.

I won the Pro Car advertising last year.
Had a 2nd in another category.
Plus 5 commendations.

How hard can it be?!

Wow, some cracking photos up there! I really like yours Crewlie and obviously _tom_'s one is fantastic. Most of them are great though.

This is the only one I've taken in ages that I really like:

In fact, it needs a border. You have a lot of digitally obvious vignetting in the original and no need for the huge sky which detracts from the subject matter.

Two points about the first image:
1) turn the camera through 180 degrees as the shadow will then fall away behind the man and not infront of him.
2) point the flash upwards if you can and bounce the flash, it'll make it much softer; better suited to the subject.

Ti29er - have I done something to upset you?! everyone else is getting nice comments, I don't think there's much wrong with my pics - certainly nothing offensive!
The thread is "show something you're proud of" and you're shooting me down! if it was a "what's wrong with my photography" thread - I'd maybe understand!

thought you might appreciate some professional feedback on how to move the photography forward.
The third picture is lovely, but the first two are technically very poor both in technique and / or composition.

(goes and gets coat. closes door behind him)

Kind of a retort to stuartie_c's excellent chain picture (really like it). Not the same quality of image by a long shot but brought a tear to my eye.

Wouldn't go as far as to say I am proud of these (especially after seeing some of the excellent pictures in this thread) but these are the ones i wasn't dissapointed with (rightly or wrongly). Some of these are just over 1 month ago i admit.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Constructive criticism and ways for improving shots welcomed bearing in mind i only have a compact digital camera.
