Might just be there much of a muchness*, but any recommendations for company to deal with & other things to consider when buying lighting strings?

(I'm after a mains powered, 15m run with the the ability to extend later)

I'm currently looking at Lightinglegends, they have some snazzy gutter mounts that will save me adding random fittings to my 'lean to', but no doubt others offer similar

*B&Q offering have bigger spacing..

We've got 2 strings of these currently. Albeit they're a few years old and have filament bulbs. They've been outside for 3 winters now and still work. Planning a 3rd set to extend it all the way down to the summer house.

We've got LightingLegends lights, specifically these:

https://www.lightinglegends.com/products/26m-85ft-super-festoon-warm-white-outdoor-plug-in-inter-connectable-led-string-lights

strung up using their hanging kit to cross-cross our courtyard:

No complaints. They've been through two Scottish winters so far. Good bulb spacing - each bulb/light isn't too bright so with closer spacing than others it's a nice even light. Nice brightness without being OTT, makes a huge difference to our kitchen which looks onto the courtyard and is otherwise pitch black.

Cheers guys,  especially good to hear from someone who’s used LL’s, considering they were basically a random google result. Probably just go with LL’s offering as they have gutter mounts too

Bit more expensive but probably best for safety given traditional weather, have you considered a 110v system ?.

I’d share some photos of mine but TBH they just look the same as on their website 🙂

Bought ours from Lighting Legends nearly two years ago - still working and pleased with them. Seem to remember they were significantly cheaper than others I looked at.

My utility room has a flat roof so I'm not really helping myself by having these lights up...

thats what the string lights are just a copy of building site festoon lighting. the 110v stuff will be way more robust than LL stuff

what are you trying to achieve, light up garden or to light up house for people to look at?

We have probably about 90m of these

https://www.lights4fun.co.uk/products/pro-connect-5m-50-traditional-warm-white-connectable-string-lights-black-cable

Been using them for many years and they seem very reliable.

They start out/on the trees so year and the only time I've had to replace a string of when a tractor has broken the cables.

Bruneep I did see those, but unless thing have changed, I’d still need a lump of a transformer to trip over 🤷‍♂️.

I’m after illumination, but they kinda scream ‘acquired’ from site to me 🤣 . I also know how they’d go down with the better half. I appreciate you mentioning the option & confirming what you meant

I like the pro connect system, but reckon they might be better for lighting the rest of the garden

again cheers all

Hard to justify the use of these now, with the problems of climate change.

Sad, really.

With LED bulbs they use bugger all power.

Our garden backs onto railway sidings which are lit night and day like a stadium so that every hour or so at night, the odd train driver can justify wearing sunglasses whilst walking to / from their train.

I use these:

https://www.lighting-direct.co.uk/13-25m-connectable-heavy-duty-festoon-lights-20-black-bulb-holders.html

12v with transformer so a lot safer than mains lighting. You can also get dusk-to-Dawn sensor so turning them on & off isn’t a problem.

I can’t complain
