Well as a subscriber, I hope they get the Android download sorted soon too!
I assume you'll have some control over what you have cached offline on your phone as I expect some of us would experience storage issues.
So can you drop a few squares in one place and pick up a few extra elsewhere?
Is this customizable on your laptop and then just sent to your phone?
On the web based system there is no option to download custom maps. There is no link except username/password between the web and the app.
As far as i can work out you have to email yourself the gpx of any route you create on the web.
If you logout of the app you obviously can't view your downloaded maps.

So when you save a section for offline use, you first select the area by zooming in and out. There then is a separate section in the menu called "My Maps" when you can see purchased map tiles and "custom offline maps" - from there you can delete areas you have downloaded.
EDIT: This is on the iOS Native App, btw. Not the web version.
If people find it of value and the forum doesn't mind, I could update this thread with updates as and when they are launched.
On a separate issue has anyone managed to import a GPX file onto the web based system?
I have downloaded a GPX file from Strava and I get the Import Failed. I have tried it with a few differnet GPX's. The same GPX files import correctly on the ios app though.

Thanks for explaining exactly how the download system works. I'd still be interested in knowing what the situation is if your subscription lapses regarding the mapping still on your phone.
I guess the update thing is really down to ST no? You could interpret it as promoting a commercial, paid-for service, but it's not like you've joined the forum specifically to do that and I guess the fact that the thread's still here suggests it's okay, but I suppose if you're really concerned, you could drop them a line.
Reply on the really annoying automatic change between explorer/land ranger that makes plotting longer routes a pain in the arse:
"We’ve made the decision to make the scale change automatically to keep it as simple as possible for those with less experience using our maps. Do have a look at the new format ‘standard’ map – this works really well all the way down to the maximum zoom, and you can then change to the leisure maps for detailed route planning."
Thing is that the 'standard' map doesn't show rights of way...
I agree, the automatic scale change is very annoying
Sorry have lost contact with this thread so sorry if this is a repeat
When printing a section for the first time it lets me move the print area around until it optimal. After that it seemed that it skipped that stage and just a guessed what I wanted printing based on what was on the screen
FYI - I noticed today that bottles of Jennings have a free 3 month access to the online maps offer at the moment. If you don't live in the Lakes, Aldi stock Jennings.
gpx importing seems to be fixed, I dragged in a load at the weekend and they all worked.

What started (arguably) as a PSA for a free app has turned into a thread promoting a commercial service. From http://singletrackworld.com/terms-and-conditions/

Whilst clearly a topic of interest to the forum, it falls foul of this rule so we're going to have to close it I'm afraid. Sorry!
