Bonjour, we have one night in Paris before getting a flight the next afternoon from CDG, have never been before and would like to stay somewhere central as it will be Bastille day so might be some nice fireworks etc.

Any recommendations? Not looking to slum it but not really wanting to go too far over £200 for one night either. Currently Notre dame area or Eiffeil tower area are tempting (notre dame has good train link to CDG), but I know nussing.

You can get the RER from Gare du Nord to Charles de Gaulle. It's very straight forward.
If you get a hotel near Boulevard Hausmann in the 9eme then you have a 15/20 walk to Gare du Nord but are only 1km from the river and a few metro stops from the centre
Plenty of 2 & 3 star hotels in that area at sensible money.
That area is only 25mins walk from The Bastille

This place is nice, not expensive, and about 1km from the Eiffel Tower. Pay an extra 5 Euro and you'll get a room with a view of the tower.

Nowhere, just party the night away in the disco/club/bar of your choice then find a boulangerie where you can buy fresh pain au chocolat aux raisins from the oven before it's open then find a bench to sit on and watch the city come to life.

That was 25 years ago, now I use the Hotel Première Classe near the Pont de Suresnes.

http://www.i-escape.com/hotel-recamier/overview

Just over budget but if you book through i-escape they offer a room upgrade, which we actually got when we went last month....mileage may vary on a busy weekend though like Bastille. Excellent small boutique hotel in a good location. Reviews on the site are accurate and fair.

Edit: just seen they're doing Special offer: 20% off room rates: 20% off all room rates - full prepayment required and non refundable. Excludes breakfast. Valid: 15 Jul 2012 - 31 Aug 2012 ...Doh! Day after Bastille!

Wasn't this a You Tube sensation a few years ago?
