the old dog is on its last legs so I'm up for a new one (call it my Fathers' Day pressie)

Some are <£30, some more like £100. Any real difference?

Quite happy to fork out a bit more for a better, quieter, more attractive one, as it should last a good while (the old dog has done a good ten years).

Bigger the better, the more torque the motor has the nicer it will be to work with. mines years old and has grinding disc on one side and wire brush on the other. a great workshop tool.

That looks like a proper grinder 900W should be plenty powerful enough.
