After going to bed early feeling utterly pants and generally having a miserable night, I dug out a covid test from the bathroom cupboard and went through the old rigmarole again.
Boom! positive!
Never had it before, even when Madame got it in 2020. So I am a bit disappointed but not surprised as I was on the train earlier in the week

New strain doing the rounds. Hospital admissions due to covid jumped up by 40% a couple of weeks ago and I know a few people who've had it recently
Symptoms vary by person. I was fine for a week after testing positive, then was very wheezy. Didn't feel right for a fair few weeks, and was off the bike for most of November and December as I wasn't 'right'
Yup still around, always will be, I caught it for a third time couple of month ago. Only stopped producing phlegm last week.

I was on an international Scout camp last week. Around 10 of the leaders and several kids (prob more) have returned with it. My wife caught it for the first time despite working in a hospital the whole way through the pandemic!
Nobody seems dreadfully unwell so far, just heavy cold/flu like symptoms.
Both my parents and brother's family have just had it and it wiped most of them out for nearly a fortnight 😢

I caught it once long after it was "mission accomplished", felt lousy for a few days but not terrible, took a week or two to get back to being able to do exercise for more than about 20 minutes at a pitch. Otoh I've had a brain like a sieve ever since, well maybe I was like that before and I just forget.
I've just about recovered from it, wife works in the NHS and they had a small outbreak on the ward, she was poorly with it 2 weeks ago followed by me coming down with it for third time since 2021.
This one was different though, less dry chesty and more tight wheezy chesty and more sore eyes, bunged up nose, dizziness, big hot and cold flushes, mega lethargy and I actually lost my sense of smell and taste this time round, just about returned now.
If you want a timeline I started feeling ropey monday last week, wednesday and thursday were a write off, was feeling a bit better friday, by the time saturday rolled around I was mostly fine but sinuses were bunged up and taste/smell gone, couldn't do too much excercise I died trying to take the dog on a hill walk, by the time Monday/tuesday rolled around I was pretty much fine again.
I got it recently for the 4th time and shook it off in a few days. The wife who has never knowingly had it before was wiped out for almost two weeks and two weeks later, still isn't back to full strength. Not expecting any long term deficits though.
At the moment I feel like i'm being squashed, kind of stiff and cramped at the same time. No real congestion but the back and top of my head feels tender and i'm a bit dizzy and chilly. Yesterday morning I thought I had a hangover after a small glass of wine but I think covid symptoms are more likely now
Paracetamol are helping a bit but only taking the edge off
Had it two months ago. Turned into chest infection only just stopped hacking up yack.
It's meant two months off the bike. Hopefully a come back ride this weekend
Looks like I had for the 2nd time a few weeks back. Unfortunately it’s left me knackered with fatigue symptoms. A long slow recovery, about 6wks in so far ☹️
Yep I'm floored with it right now, heavy cold and blocked nose, almost can't walk to the top of the stairs, high body temp.
three days if its what I had. positive test on return from holiday in majorca after losing three days to it a week earlier. have to say, if you're gonna be ill with flu-like symptoms, do it in the middle of a heat wave.

had it a 4 or 5 weeks ago. vomiting on the friday evening and weak, saturday and sunday, moderate fever requiring bed rest. monday fever intermittent, sinuses blocked and headache. slight cough. tuesday much the same as monday, but easing. wednesday to friday developed a bit of a cough, upper respiritory goop, sinuses still blocked up, seemed to fade over the weekend. following week, tired, feeling like there was a residual cold. following week, still slightly more tired. seemed OK ish after that.
Think we picked it up at son's graduation. Cold and mild flu symptoms for a week but no cough or loss of taste or smell. The first time I've had any COVID related time off work (have a direct work colleague who's had a transplant so no way I wanted to risk passing it on). First time on bike last night and seemed generally OK.
About a week in at the moment and only thing I'm left with is a bit of a cough and low level fatigue. Completely knackered last Saturday and Sunday but after that not too bad.
Had it a couple of weeks ago, still coughing and wheezy and generally feel like crap.
Two weeks ago. Mostly recovered but digestive system still fragile.
Picked it up in Japan so may be Godzilla variant.

I had a cough two weeks ago. It was a NIGHTMARE!
Mrs had it early doors at the start of it all I'm 2020. I dodged it for 2 years, then got it 3 times in the space of about 10 months (twice in 3 months).
For this n=1, it caused me to miss a close family wedding (too many ancient people there to risk) and another race. Felt grotty for 2 or 3 days, then an annoying cough for about another 10. I recall after the 1st, I went Open water swimming and then biking about 2.5weeks after testing positive (10 days after tests were clear). I was OK on gentle stuff but as soon as I was sprinting or the ride went properly uphill, I was weak and blowing out of my asre. Took another week or so before back 'on it' - so about 3 to 3.5 weeks after 1st testing positive
What I would add is that I got real flu at the start of this year - and that was 10x worse - properly death-warmed-up for a few days amd out of action for weeks.

Edit to eleaborate: our existing Covid antibodies don't protect much against Eris so were all stuffed. 🙁
Hubby had it in late April. I've never seen him so poorly, completely wiped out for 4 days, then about a fortnight to feel normal again.
Very disappointed when my mother wiggled the tips of her fingers under the tap in some public loos the other day. I tried to stress that covid is still around and she needs to wash her hands properly, she is also eligible for a booster jab but just can't be bothered having it. I'm waiting patiently for the time my age group can have one.

I’ve just had it for the third time. This latest bout has absolutely been the worst yet. Was in my bed 24/7 for 4 weeks when it first landed. Finally tested positive with a lateral flow after 2 weeks of negatives. I’ve had all my vaccines.
I’ve now been off work for 18 weeks with post / long covid symptoms and feel absolutely awful even still . Extreme fatigue, brain fog, swollen glands, reflux and a tight chest are the symptoms. The best I’ve had is 2-3 days where i feel decent but then back to a week of misery after any sort of minor exertion. A horrendous, life changing experience.
My throat felt pretty irritated and croaky yesterday, and I felt tired in the evening. Woke up this morning with mild cold type symptoms.
Our annual boozy street party is today, so i decided to test so that
A - I don't spread anything around and
B- I don't make myself worse by staying up late drinking and eating bad snacks.
Big fat line on the test immediately....
No party for me then...

Erm, no. Its to kill off the unbelievers by combining the vaccine with various others you'll all have had against your will and for no reason - I mean, polio vaccine, have you ever met anyone who caught polio? No. There's a made-up vaccine with a hole in the justification - and once you reach critical mass you'll just run head long into the ice wall.
The rest of us, we'll be safe from vaccine induced psychosis, thinking about laughing at you from behind our oxygen masks if only we could summon the physical strength to breathe unaided.

Second time I've had it now. The first time was quite a while ago and it floored me for nearly 3 weeks.
I thought I just had a bad cold but then I couldn't particularly taste my caramelized onion houmous with dinner tonight so thought I'd better do a test, although the use by was the 20th and so I thought maybe it had just gone manky.
Quite weird as I haven't particularly mixed with many people for a while now, working alone. My gf works in a college so anything I get I accuse her of passing on to me, but she's fine. 😔

There's a bit of a surge going on according to the scientific types I follow on social media. Zoe is about the only remaining system that's recording infection levels as the incompetents in the executive have stopped recording things in a joined up fashion.

Can't be sure if I actually had it (no tests left) but had 6 weeks of no energy, bad cough, really bad brain fog (forgetting names!) etc. The worst was the wheezing and crackling on my throat, upper chest. Thankfully cleared up completely now. Not a fun experience at all
winter cough/cold bugs seem to be very prevalent in the last few weeks, and I guess this is just the beginning. Been laid up since the weekend, sneezing, cough, headache, sore bones, not much taste. Did find some COVID tests in the cupboard, but no, its a good old cold...
First time for me, symptoms started 12 days ago, I just thought I had a cold & cough, and (after blagging some tests) I’ve been positive for a week. Everything tastes odd, I feel like I’ve got a full-time hangover and lungs are producing massive amounts of gunge. I’m fed up with it now. Boo.
Both covid and autumn bugs about - 3 in my family been coughing and sniffling for a few days, son prior to that. I've had quite a few colleagues laid up with Covid for a couple of weeks.
Trying to avoid it as I lost November and December on the bike to it last year (caught early November) - didn't feel well enough until January to get back on, and I was commuting by bike. Ruined most plans as I felt so rough.

I think I'll pay for a flu jab. Hoping that covid jabs will be available soon to the under 65 age group.
I keep getting it every 6 months, almost like clockwork. General sense of malaise and weird taste in my mouth followed by two weeks of feeling knackered. No other symptoms. Testing positive every time.
Had it since Saturday/Sunday. Went for a ride Sat afternoon and felt more fatigued than normal afterwards, also a bit sniffly but put that down to dust from cleaning the house. Had a crap night's sleep and took a test on Sunday morning. Sunday-Tuesday were pretty much a write off, better today but really fatigued and crazy brain fog.
Looks like my wife has it now so that's going to be fun
