Noasis tribute band.
When you were 16 to 25, were you listening to 30+ year old bands?
Absolutely. I was born in 78 and grew up with my dad's huge vinyl collection. Music featured highly in our house growing up, There was never silence. Always something on the turntable. I was obsessed with the stones, the who, yes, neil young, hendrix, clapton, led zep etc from a very young age, and that love for them never left me even when I got into much more modern stuff in my 16 to 25 years
Not interested until Nirvana reform.
find it really interesting that forum member’s kids are “obsessed” by them. When you were 16 to 25, were you listening to 30+ year old bands? In the mid 90s, that would be like listening to early Beatles, or Elvis!
The Beatles were pretty popular during the Britpop era, for obvious reasons. I certainly listened to them.
Anyway, I loved Oasis BITD, but the last time I saw them was Glastonbury 2004 and they were rubbish.
Liam Gallagher is living in this area at the mo in a big country pad. Local paper recently - 'Stroud man reforms Oasis'..
I always liked them. Watched 'Yesterday' the other week, particularly good bit was when the main character is realising what else is missing from culture since the blackout.. "Oasis?" "yeah, that figures.." : )
Liked them in the 90s as most people seemed to as everyone just got swept along in a tide of Brit Pop. As the years have gone on though, I've come to dislike their music more and more and start to appreciate the bands who never got as much exposure at the time far more. What would I rather do, pay a million pounds to go and see Oasis stood about 100m away playing some Beatles covers in a massive stadium full of dickhead wannabes or go and see someone like Echobelly/Sleeper/Bluetones etc in a tiny venue where tickets cost £20 and you can get a decent beer etc. That reminds me, Echobelly tour tickets on sale tomorrow morning 🙂
*Should add that I saw one of their last gigs together before they split and they were pretty average then. Can't imagine 15 years of churning out even worse solo crap has done anything for them.
Why do people always bang on about Oasis being a Beatles cover band? Yes, there are some similarities at times, but there is not a single song (that I am aware of) where I can say 'yep, that's just a rip off of [insert Beatles song name]'. Surely bands are allowed to be influenced by other bands they admire?

Sabbath, Maiden, Motorhead, AC/DC, Hendrix... I'd have been keen to see any one of them.
Look at Nirvana Ffs, third revival (in as much as there can be) in as many decades
I have never understood the attraction to Oasis or their music, but this will give plenty of people a chance to see them which will hopefully be good. Seems like at least one of them needs a bit of cash so I really do hope that they will make an effort to be as good as they can be now rather than just go through the motions.
Having been a massive Oasis fan when I was younger I've had a few text this morning from friends and family asking if I'll be trying to get tickets. My general response is:
"I'm tempted, but then also think it will be a disappointment. Some things are probably best left in the past as good memories of a different time. And ticket prices - when we last saw them in 2005 it was £35 for a ticket. Probably £150+ now."
I was too young to be see them live in the eary/mid 90's. I think the first time I saw them was about 2001/2002 when Liam was getting his teeth knocked out in Germany. Also, I just don't think I can be arsed with all the effort and cost (travel, hotels, etc..) to stand in a stadium full of dickheads throwing pints of piss just to destroy those earlier memories.
The only gig I have ever seen a proper fight at was oasis, at a spanish festival no less, brits drinking on an empty head, Spanish couldn't believe it. You get thrown out having paid for a festival ticket.
Saw them at the 100 Club back in 1994 (£6 a ticket - those were the days!). They were supported by Whiteout who we thought were better...
Oasis definitely won on swagger though.

@ransos was that when Liam was wearing a long white puffer jacket and he and Noel stood on opposite sides of the Pyramid stage without saying a word to each other through the whole set?
I was there too, I'm very tempted to try and get tickets as ^ that was the only time I've seen Oasis, and although I loved them as well it was indeed rubbish.

That's the one! They were really flat, maybe they had a row before going on stage. They certainly didn't look like they wanted to be there.
Saw them at Cov Uni when Supersonic came out.
No chance I'll be seeing them again.
The Stone Roses for people who don’t like music.
Haha, or for people who prefer Stella to MDMA

and support your local indie venues too. Thanks, have registered to get a reminder....
Imagine the number of pairs of old school adidas that will be claimed by the Heaton Park Mud? The Gazelle Graveyard!
I saw the Roses at Heaton Park and it was essentially just a Karaoke singalong for bald, fat 50 year old blokes. I imagine Oasis will be much the same.

There's a reason why they play in tiny venues.
What are the odds on them doing Saturday night on the Pyramid Stage?

You say that like it's a bad thing!

Or maybe the lyrics for a kids tv show
Second item on the BBC news at 1pm FFS
The first Manchester genre I came across was Stone Roses, many many years ago.
At that time I thought this sort of Manchester genre was modern British folk songs (yes, I did), while I had no clue of most of the lyrics, I just thought they were all mumbling about some displeasure ... something like that.
Then there were Oasis Vs Blur something like that but I never knew that was a thing.
Anyway, enjoy the music and hope everyone will have a wonderful time.
In the time between Oasis splitting up and reforming, Watford have had 19 managers, Luis Suarez has bitten 3 people, Chelsea have signed nearly 200 players, Man City have accumulated 115 charges, VAR has been introduced, and Tottenham still haven’t won anything.

Zero apparently. Official ruled out on the BBC news this morning

It's an outrage. Which woke libtard at the BBC decided that there was a more important news item?
Meh, I’d rather see Blur but tbh unless they come to the Murcia Bull ring, I don’t think I could make the effort 🙂
You say that like it’s a bad thing
Not at all @ransos. I fitted right in (for obvious reasons) and we had a bloody great night 😀
Out of interest I just looked to see if there are any rooms at a Premier Inn in Edinburgh on the 8th or 9th of August, no all sold out. Closest is Dunfermline and Livingston.

So you think that the BBC (or any news agency) knows this definitively?
Lot of snobbery going on here…
Nah - just people who aren't keen on has been cash grabs - beer will be £8/pint
beer will be £8/pint
Beer is £8 a pint in most towns and cities now – I paid £8.50 for a pint last week in Harrogate town centre. Crazy 🙁

You know attendance is voluntary, right?
I saw them in Canada a year or 2 before they broke up - what an excellent band they had at that point
I dont think Ill be going though judging from Liam interim activities
