I'm hoping that Daniel Craig will grace our screens again at least once.

My owm perfect Bond would be Matthew Goode.

Who's yours.

Wasn't Idris Elba supposed to be the next Bond at one point?

Big mistake when they didn't give it to Lewis Collins (Bodie out of The Professionals).
Ive not watched a Bond film since Daniel Craig took over but will see the new one as its set in Rome, my favourite city.
I think Elba will be the next Bond.

Your luck is in, there's a new one out on Monday with him in it!

Elba would have been a good shout a few years ago. Surely too old to take over when Craig goes (would be late 40s in his first Bond film c.2019).

Suggestion of Nicholas Hoult on TFI last night would be intriguing if they wanted to go back to a lighter Bond, but not sure he's got enough edge for the way they've gone with Craig.

Would it be the kind of thing Tom Hardy would go for? Guess after Mad Max yes, but the next two of those might tie him up for a few years. He'd be great obviously.

Some interesting names on the bookies' lists but Aiden Turner and Eddie Redmayne jump out for me, although Henry Cavill and Jamie Dornan must be in with a shout too?

Please not Elba, I'm not a fan. I find his acting style OTT

Let's hope he doesn't get cast then.

IIRC that was according to a survey of Sun Readers rather than any hints coming from Albert Brocolli's casting agents.

However it seems Barry Adamson has already written the score

Craig said in an interview that Spectre was the first in a two part deal.

Then the games can begin!

For me the issue is that they never really did it properly in the first place.
They did the ones they liked the look of and many were a f'ing big farce.
Bond is a dark, brooding, animal who was broken by Vesper in Casino Royal.
He's not in his 20's, he's been about, suffered and the "00" is pretty much his last chance before MI5 give him concrete slippers for his retirement.
So everyone complaining that Craig has made him too edgy needs to read the books and see just how close he is to Flemmings original character.
That needs to be taken into account when they cast whoever follows Craig.

I don't know if DC has got another one in him, but I'll reserve judgement till I see it Tuesday. I don't think it's his age per-se, it's was all that "I'm too old for this shit" in Skyfall, I hated that aspect of Skyfall, they tried too much to make it in the real world.

I'm a huge fan of Idris, but he's not a bond, he's a big guy with an imposing personality and voice, I know he's an actor and not Stringer Bell or John Luther, but I don't think he's got sauve in his range. He'd be an awesome baddie though, wonder if he's got a white cat?

I always thought Ioan Gruffudd would be a good bond, I think he was on the same short list as DC, probably too old now - Bond is meant to be 35ish

@hammyuk

I know what you're saying, but Film Bond is pretty much a different person to Book Bond - film bond is a sauve Spy, book Bond is a rough, tough assassin doing wet work for the UK.

Tom Hardy is great but he's a bit too Daniel Craig tbh. Idris Elba, maybe, but agree he feels a bit old for the part now.

Noel Clarke'd be awesome.

Vesper Lynd: All right... by the cut of your suit, you went to Oxford or wherever. Naturally you think human beings dress like that. But you wear it with such disdain, my guess is you didn't come from money, and your school friends never let you forget it. Which means that you were at that school by the grace of someone else's charity: hence that chip on your shoulder. And since you're first thought about me ran to "orphan," that's what I'd say you are.
[he smiles but says nothing]
Vesper Lynd: Oh, you are? I like this poker thing. And that makes perfect sense! Since MI6 looks for maladjusted young men, who give little thought to sacrificing others in order to protect queen and country. You know... former SAS types with easy smiles and expensive watches.
[Glances at his wrist]
Vesper Lynd: Rolex?
James Bond: Potato!
