Currently got a Galaxy S3 on GiffGaff so looking to spend £400 tops on an android handset, less if I can. 🙂
I was going to get an S5 but on GGs site I've also seen the Xperia Z3 & HTC one M8S. Are those any better or anything else out there?
Looking for a decent camera & internet speed and all those phones have a better spec than the S3 ie higher Mp cameras, bigger/better processors, bigger batteries etc.

So any advice going?

TIA

Z3. Genuine 2 day battery life if you don't cane it, easily see you through a day regardlessv if do give it some hammer.

Waterproof too. I'd actually go for the Z3 compact though. Unlike other 'mini' phones it's the same spec as the Z3 bar screen resolution and it had 2gb not 3gb ram but it's pushing less pixels around.

Somewhat cheaper too...

Don't want a smaller screen than the S3 so that rules out the compact but thanks for info.

I bought an Archos 50 Diamond in April. It's been great, only £170

Thanks Neil, very interested in that.
Saw the s6 but only 32gb and think the note 4 is over budget?
Not heard about the Archos, will have a look.

Can't wait for the last month to pass on my contract on my Sony xperia sp, have hated it. Slow, buggy, yuck.

Might give the z3 compact a go, or HTC one mini 2, or a Samsung s5 mini. Don't like big phones. Thoughts?

I've just gone from a S2 to a S5 and am very impressed by it. Screen is very good and battery life is good (36hrs+). The supplied charger does about 60-70% in an hour (breakfast) then it's setup for the day. 32gb sd card for £8 - job done!

Thoughts?

I don't know about the Mini 2, but I looked at the Mini when I got my original (M7) One. It was fractionally smaller (like, about 5mm) and half the spec of the full-fat One. If the new one is the same principle (and it might not be), I'd avoid. I think what I'm trying to say here is, check first.

also looking for a new phone - with that sim card can you put your music and podcasts etc on it? Samsung still connect to Itunes?

16Gb Iphone years old has run out of space for more music and podcasts which is what I mainly use it for

Love my Z3, dannybgoode has pretty much summed it up.

Normally I'd suggest a Oneplus One. But this looks hard to beat for the money if you don't need waterproofing.

Pawsey Bear.
Google music will duplicate your iTunes library in the cloud for free allowing an Android phone to effectively access your iTunes account.

Shop around for a Note 4, they'll be punting them out cheap as the Note 5 is on the way, maybe last Samsung flagship to have SD card. Also some Samsung Galaxy S5 can still be had for cheap

Sorry I don't use itunes ... I just copy my music on manually over usb. I use the sd card for music and photo storage.

theotherjonv

Just gone from Xperia SP to Zperia Z3 Compact myself. Very similar in size, but a much better phone. And as dannybgoode says of the Z3, the battery frequently lasts for 2 days.

I'm tempted with a cheap Chinese phone

The whole £500 phone arms race is beginning to piss me off.

Having a scout about and mobilephonesdirect.co.uk have the best prices I've found so far for sim free phones.
Anyone had dealings with them at all, ok to deal with etc?
