[#9395742]

After the death of our cat earlier this week, me and the SO are thinking of getting a new kitten(probably 2), (cat haters can f right off at this point)

We are going on holiday in late August, and just wondering at what age it is usually ok to leave a kitten in the care of a minder for a few days? Normally there is someone in the house most of the day.

Assuming the kittens are past 13 weeks old when you get them (ie properly weaned), they will still need feeding more frequently than an older cat. So your cat sitter should really be popping in three or four times a day as opposed to once or twice.

I wouldn't do it until they are a bit older. Why not wait until you come back to get the kittens?

Just get a [s]dog[/s]tablet. End of thread.

Loads of cats on youtube, and no need for food or pet insurance. ๐Ÿ˜€

+1 wait until you get back. I'm away on holiday now, sick cat at home in the very good care of brother in law and next door neighbours. It's been a mission to not think about how she is doing to be honest. Do yourself a favour and leave it until you get back you'll only be fretting otherwise.

Definitely leave it til you get back. A kitten will want/need your time and affection.

I have a dog and three cats. I love my dog but he is the only dog I'll ever own. I'll always own cats though. They are brilliant.

Pic taken just now. Siamese are dog like in that they're people cats and will be around you wherever you are. But they don't need walking and are not needy. Which is the main aspect of dog ownership I sometimes struggle with.

I think a lot of cats are like that, both our rescue cats follow us around the house and when I go next door to chat to the neighbours, they both come with me ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd agree to leave it until you get back. If it was an older cat it wouldn't be such an issue but a kitten will probably suffer anxiety with you away and won't like the change of someone new being around.

I agree with the above, leave it until you get back. It's not like there's a kitten shortage.

That pic brings back memories, my brother used to have a Siamese blue point, lovely cats, they look strange to non cat people in pictures but in real life they are such characters, and very much like dogs in demeanour.

Current moggy is basically ferrel, I think it only sticks around for an easy meal.
