[Closed] New drills or new batteries?

I've got two old Draper Cordless Drills like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-71385-Variable-Speed-Combination-Screwdriver/dp/B0001KA1P8

Both need new batteries.

Am I better off investing £40 in new batteries:

Or are there any "cheap but good" cordless drill/screwdrivers around that would be far better for not much more cash? (Preferably with Ni-Li batteries instead of the Draper's Ni-Ca.)

Get new ones, new one will be way better your current one with new battery.

Lidl and Aldi do tool offers with cordless drills for around £20-30, but as you’ve already got two drills anyway the obvious choice is just buy two new batteries for the same sort of price.
If the batteries are that cheap, you could buy two more later, and keep the spare ones charged up, so it’s easy to swap over when one dies at the least convenient moment, ‘cos if you buy a new drill, you’ll still only have one battery.

I had one of those drills years ago, replaced with a Makita with Li-Po batteries, chalk and cheese. The old drill was pretty useless as a hammer drill.

i would get a second hand something half decent, with possibility of buying cheap copy batteries.

especially if you don' have li-ion batterries.

i bought new makitas for years and have added copy batteries which perform jsut as well. that's 18v li-ion stuff.

then a recently bought a wee 2nd hand blue bosch '12v' (10.8v) just to leave in the workshop, and a couple of batteries of ebay for 25 quid the pair. really impressed with the whole set-up, and it cost me 80 euros...

Just noticed this in an Aldi update from a couple of hours ago:

If it runs on NiCads, cut your losses.  Otherwise you'll be asking the same question again in a couple of years.

I have the non-hammer version of the Aldi drill. Very impressed for the cash (£25 when I got it), it's certainly a lot better than the much more expensive one it replaced.

Impact drivers are absolutely fantastic. Build my summer house (5m x 4m) and that tool alone was an absolute godsend.
