When does 1% of something become everything?

According to the Daily Telegraph, Parker’s resignation was announced shortly after a motion expressing no confidence in his leadership. The motion was understood to have attracted the support of less than 1% of the National Trust’s membership.

So what do we think? Anti-woke Twitterstorm? New ‘anti-woke’ youtube channels gleefully shrieking warning us about how the Liberal Elite Post Modern Marxinists nearly canceled The Trust?

Brexit Redux as True Brits rush to cancel their NT memberships?

Skoda Roomster with an NT sticker? Cultural Marxist Please move along to be processed at the hospitality marquee?

Johnno’ll sort ‘em out.

The charity said he stayed on beyond his final term, which was due to end last year, to provide stability through the pandemic. Parker told trustees of his intention to step down the day after the National Trust’s houses reopened to the public on 17 May.

Well that’s that answered.

The same Tim Parker who was post office chair when vicar vennell's was aggressively - and wrongly - pursuing innocent postmasters with false accusations of fraud and, effectively, endorsed her actions.

@FrankConway

Oh the joys of hindsight.

For those of us who followed the Horizon fiasco as it unfolded - thanks to Private Eye and Computer Weekly - he was always implicated.
No hindsight required.

NT is going through a painful change. The tweedy old school are struggling to accept that the future of the NT is basically now in the hands of families who want more kids stuff, car parks near beaches, relevant (non-patriotic) explantion of their assets.

Where they'll struggle is keeping onside the army of retired volunteers who feel like guardians (but are really just free security for the exhibits).

This is more likely why he's not staying on longer, IMO.

And while chairman is an important role, they have a "director general" (grand name for a CEO) who I'd assume would have taken the brunt of any BLM backlash.
