Hi

I am going to Whistler for a weeks riding with mates. For the second week my wife is flying out and we are spending another week out in Vancouver for 3 nights at first.

Is anyone able to recommend a national park / outdoors area within 3 hours driving of Vancouver where we could stay for three nights for some walking, mountain running, relaxing. Could be off the beaten track, or a beautiful tourist spot - hey it could also be back to Whistler, if that is the best place!

Would love to hear some recommendations, so thank you if you have any in advance.
Paul

Squamish is a good shout. Super chilled place.
If you wanted to stay in van, Check out Capilano park. It's very leisurely but beautiful none the less. You could stay in Van or thereabouts and ride the shore. Van island has a bit of everything too.

Grouse Mountain & north shore are on the doorstep, a short drive from downtown Van.

Just for the sake of clarity, there are no national parks within 3 hours drive of Vancouver but there are numerous provincial parks.

If you hit any of those parks within 2hrs drive of Vancouver on a sunny summer weekend, you're not going to find solitude but there are plenty of beautiful spots around.

Float plane into tyax resort. Spendy but about as non commercial (tourist route) as youll find.
Real hikes, sweet spa lodge, access to alpine.
Most other park areas are busy with Vancouver visitors like mark says.
Squamish has the gondola with access to alpine hikes, self shuttled access to the elfin lakes parking lot and alpine lake access. Hotels here are sold out every weekend but Airbnb's might be an option.
Sunshine coast too for easy ferry access but more waterfront than alpine activities.
