Found it on the beach the other day.
Four small front legs and two long side legs, none of which seemed to make it suitable for the sand, as it couldn't move in it!
I thought it might have wings, but it didn't try and fly after getting nowhere in the sand.
It looked like a big Pond Skater, so I moved it down to the water and watched it do not much there either.
Anyone any idea what it is?

A greater water boatman. Never seen one on a beach (unless there is a pond or stream nearby?).
