she's got more than a dozen

You'd need a Bugsy Malone style Splurge Gun loaded with Sudocrem for that number of cats.

Amen. Thanks all.

How is the cat this morning

Pinga is okay. Yesterday evening she was nowhere to be seen, this morning she was wary of all, late afternoon found her curled up in the very place she got creamed, eating treats from my daughters hand. Live and don't learn, that's the spirit.

Did you specially select the expensive merino top as the best garment to wear while trying to wash a cat?

Regrettably, I was wearing it a part of a plan by which I make my life less chaotic and more organised and together (more executive!), by the simple expedient of looking more organised and together. It's not thus far been a rousing success.

Just now had a chance to read the whole thread---really funny posts and suggestions--cat probably wouldn't be as amused as the STW crowd.
Definitely one of the best post in a while

Oh god oh god.. I have laughed so much at this...

once had to wash a white long haired (as in persian style long) cat that had managed to dump 3/4 of the contents of a A series sump over himself. Don't ask ... basically servicing a 1275 Cooper S (yes had one once and pig sick I sold it....) unscrewed sump plug to point of removal, got distracted by mate coming into garage... cat/foreman supervising ops decided to arch ichy back on sump turns the sump plug the fatal 1/4 turn dumping the remainded over floor & cat

clean up involved me dressed in bike jacket (as in 1988 stylee big heavy motorbike leather)(for tis true I did doth have a Yamaha 350 YPVS 😀 ) fullface motorbike helmet (visor down) shemag wrapped round neck & tucked into bike jacket welding apron & welding gauntlets on (chrome leather)

chalky (for that twas his name) was actually not THAT bad but did have a "hidden tiger crouching dragon" moment and i did managed to launch him form the bathroom where I swear that he had those warp/hyperspace/d jump trails after him

FWIW this may all have been pointless, we were advised to use sudocrem on our cat by the vet once and from other reading online (not exactly reliable I know, but one does claim to be a sudocrem sales rep who might know more than most) it's not animal (or at least cat) toxic.

http://www.vpisuk.co.uk/portal/Vets/Substancesoflowtoxicity/tabid/140/Default.aspx

You could probably have put the cat outside and let it lick itself clean.

Sudocream is an emulsion of oil and water so your cat will sh1t like a student after a heavy night on Theakston's Old Peculier.

Do NOT leave the cat indoors tonight, at least not without a dirtbox.

And if you believe those photos, I have a wonderful story of America sending people to the moon and back to tell you.

Still, I don't understand - a couple of million dollars worth of CGI cleverness and you could have made up any sort of nonsense - why did you fake something so obviously impossible ?

EDIT:

** no wet pussies were mentioned during the making of this forum post **

For whatever reason, I hadn't bothered reading this thread until tonight. Quite possibly the best, and funniest threads ever on STW! I've had to stop twice to dry my eyes, and the small child wearing cycle helmet and carrying emergency flag pretty much tipped me over the edge.
I'm off to bed now, but I'll probably have trouble sleeping 'cos ill be giggling too much thinking about this. Thank you to all contributors, and especially the cat, and the perpetrator.
Can we have this thread as a permanent sticky, please? 😆

Perhaps Markie, Miss Markie Jr and the cat should be nominated for some kind of award 😀

Grrrreat stuff! Particularly liked the "instructions how to wash a cat", signed by the dog!

Reminded me of one of my favourite Gary Larson cartoons:

I remember a time when anything over an hour old would drop off the front page.

That's 12 years old!

I'm on here a lot less. I think it's mainly because the replying is so difficult. I've always eventually got used to changes but this one is not good.

Agreed - pop up adverts, that pop up as you're trying to click on something and move everything around again, the time taken to render, everything now becoming stale as a result....and then finally on threads that used to be at least a decent debate being taken over by a few names that have ruined the experience.

It's usually open in the background but I don't read much now, it's just a frustrating experience and posting even more so - probably <5 posts a week now.

I don't get any of those issues but,

Where's the rest of this thread gone?  Is the import still in progress?

Back to the OPs question.

Putting your kids up for adoption can be a bit of a battle with Social Services and will bring some stigma in the neighbourhood but will stop it happening again.  Plus you’ll find you have more money for bike parts.

If you feel you need to keep the kids then it’s about seventy quid to get a cat put down then new kittens are usually locally available for free and much cuter.

I've noticed that all of the ten-year-old or more threads have been reduced to the opening post only, Cougar. Anyone having trouble with the forum could perhaps try the Brave browser before giving up on this place.

This was mentioned in the "New Forum" post, someone had also lost a very meaningful post about the death of their wife. I did try and track it down on WayBackMachine, it has a lot of archives of Singletrack World from over the years but the forum search function doesn't seem to work within the archives.

There's almost certainly a way to search within specific archives using WayBackMachine's own tools, but I couldn't work it out. However if you're looking for something specific that's missing and are more tech savvy than me, it's probably there.

Here you are. Losing that thread would be like having Kennedy's assassination removed from history

Pasting it as link doesn't work, the forum reformats it.

The OP on this page has the date, so it was just a matter of finding that date on archive.

//Type "singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/my-daughter-has-coated-cat-with-sudocrem-what-to-do" into the wayback machine website here - Mark ps. Fixing the format bug when a long url is added is on the list //

I just don’t understand the complaints about difficulty in replying, delays, etc;

Certainly during the early stages of the revamp over to the new format it was frustrating, but now it’s working really well, far better than it has for some significant amount of time. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Agreed Count, but greybeard's link appears to have broken the page width formatting. 😁

Not entirely the case, but problems do seem to plague the free members much more than paid up users. C'mon people, put your hands in your pocket, it's less than the cost of a pint of beer a month!

Why would anyone pay for something that doesn’t work though ?

STW does appear to be a generation thing, when we all start popping our clogs the forum will die too.

I don't need to pop my clogs. It will stop when I can't be arsed to fetch my glasses to deal with the suoerwidescreen vision formatting

It works fine if you pay! Well apart from this odd page width thing, but that's normal until someone tries something clever. 😁

Sorry about that - on my screen (PC, Firefox), the code window fits inside the page width and has a scroll bar.

It was the only way to post the link - the forum kept stripping off the archive.org part and then failing to find the site.
