Really nickc and what if someone took your child, if you have one, tortured them for weeks on end then fed them to the dogs would you still thinking seeking revenge is the wrong thing to do?

Havinh never been in the position where I feel I could kill someone then I can't really comment. And untill you are actually put in that position then I don't think anyone can.

i think, if the situation was right, anyone could.

if its upsetting enough, and the situation came up, where you could, for want of a better term "end" someone, yet remain totally removed from the situation, i think most people could and would

insert molester of your own child here:

with time, i think one would see reason and logic over hot bloded vengance, and even forgiveness (any normal person)
but in the heat of the moment.
i know i would

Full stop, Honestly? I dunno what I'd do if that happened to my children. Does it make me less of a "man" or parent if I've not contemplated bloody murder in a scenario that is so infinitesimally unlikely to happen?

No, but that the usual comment, isn't it? that's why that particular "totally unlikely" scenario is generally chosen, to level exactly that critism at people.

It's never going to happen; the murder and mutilation of my children, so making claims about what you'd do to the mythical perpetrators of fictitious crimes is mostly pointless bravado, hence my "take a look at yourself" statement, and really honestly if you still want to kill something after you've thought about for a while, then does that not make you a bit sad...

"It's never going to happen; the murder and mutilation of my children

I'm sure lots of parents have said that.

Ah, but how many have said

"It's never going to happen; the death and mutilation of my children by a careless/speeding/drunk driver"

That's much more likely, and I know which I'm more concerned about, looking at standards of people's driving and some of the views about speeding expressed on another thread today.
