[#11756798]

As of today, after ten years' service I've resigned as STW moderator and am now a plebby user like almost everyone else.

There's no dramaz or fallings out or anything, rather I simply don't have enough time or spoons to give it the attention it requires and I'm not prepared to do half a job. I may well return at some point in the future once my personal circumstances change.

I shall of course remain on the forum in my regular role as a argumentative prick who thinks he's funnier than he is.

Cheers all, it's been fun. Well, mostly. (-:

At least you'll still be contributing, does that mean there's a ban hammer going begging?

You know those scenes where the good cops end up in prison with all the baddies he's put away?

Let the shanking commence.

Also Cougar do you even ride a bike?

RIP Cougar - although I thought he died at the same time as Joe Cocker. (Where are the heart emojis on this keyboard?)

If that were a bannable offence there would be no one here but classifieds only users

You lasted about ten years longer than I would have if I’d been a moderator.

So did hundreds of other people

I suggested it. We were stretched thin as it was. Out of my hands now though.

Bacon

Bastard.

Not as often as I'd like. I've had (again, as per my OP) too much else to worry about of late, not least of which has been a house move which about did for me. Hoping to get out more again once the weather picks up a bit, I bought my OH her first MTB last year but it's yet to be ridden* other than me setting it up.

That's probably a separate thread in itself, but if there's any forumites based in Padiham who fancy a socially distanced and gentle scamper at some point, give me a yell. I've absolutely no idea what's around here aside from a former railway line Greenway.

(* the bike, behave)

I'm still slightly gutted that you are not a horny slightly older lady. I had an image in my head and I liked it. For years I thought you were a Cougar

There's the canal!!!! You can ride to nearly any part of Burnley using the canal and greenways, whether you come home again is another matter, but then you were in Accrington before.

Come south and east and there's loads of riding (unfortunately all uphill) or go North and there's loads of good road biking, although if you go over the Nick of Pendle that's also up.

The way my head's been for the last few months, at times I wasn't entirely sure myself.

True, and I knew that. I've ridden the canal quite a bit (when I was in Accy the jumping-on point for me was Church). Really I'm looking for from-the-door riding that I can take a very very nervous new rider out on, rather than seeking the gnar.* There's Grove Lane or Gorse Lane or something near here, that's nice enough and flat.

(* - I initially typoed that as 'gran', frank would have been happy)

In other news, the forum looks funny and the post rate limit is a pain in the ass.

Ten years? Jeez I remember you starting

April 2010, according to my profile. I was only a regular user for about six months before being approached for the gig.

Saw you mention this on another thread and was a bit sad TBH. You've definitely been one of the better mods I've come across on various forums, by quite a large margin. You've been very good at playing two parts of an online persona, only breaking out the Mod part when needed and happy to engage with the forum on the same level as any other user. Lots of other forums suffer from their mods getting too involved in arguments by banning or silencing anyone with views not compatible with their own or just being a moderator and not knowing about 'in' jokes and the personalities etc.

Hope you stay around for a long time and enjoy just being a normal user.

I went on one of those once, with Binners, Grum and a few others I forget now (sorry). Maybe Molgrips, or that might have been another time. I was very far from match fit and nearly died. Maybe I'll join you for a post-mortem pint on the next one.

Aw. Thank you, that means a lot. It was a conscious decision to do so, not least because some people like to use "yes but moderator" as leverage and I'm not having it. Er, wasn't. I think this is going to take a bit of getting used to.

Cheers. Always been pretty even-handed whilst still playing the part of a normal forumite, but making the distinction clear.

One less declared moderator...
