Can anyone recommend the area or any campsites?
Plenty of contours & wiggly roads & a few campsites but looks fairly off the beaten track.
Looking to go there next year for some road and mtb'ing.
Gerardmer has plenty of campsites and their tourist board website has loads of info.
Camp Municipal Du Domaine de Longemer in my Caravan Club book gets a good recommendation and is on the lakeside.
I always stay in Xonrupt Longemer in ski chalets, and you'll need spiny gears... The climbs are brutal all the way round.

It's an absolutely gorgeous place.
camp with lake would be excellent.
