Just noticed Mrs Rider's last (and final) tax disc was up on 28/02/15

She rushed to post office and sorted it today. What happens to the two weeks unpaid?

Will we die by Robocop? Forced into homelessness?

They don't do part months so I presume you have paid for those weeks

you would have been charged from the beginning for the month.

This being the DVLA I wouldn't put it past them to still fine you for late payment though...

you can set it up as a direct debit now, so you don't need to remember any more.

DD won't make any difference as you still have to apply for one each year anyway and make the declaration.

I forgot to tax the bike on time pretty much every year for a decade, I did get fined once but all the other times they just backdated it.

Ok. I assumed it automatically checked for insurance and mot and renewed if everything was in order.

Edit

You will be able to buy 6 or 12 months of vehicle tax in one go or spread the payments over 12 months. Whichever option you choose, the payments will continue automatically until you notify us to stop taking them providing you have a valid MOT in place at the point of renewal.

Doesn't mention about logging on to make any declaration, unless you intend to SORN the car.
