Anyone done any cycling on The Pennine Way out of Kirk Yetholm?
Got a few days break there and thinking about sneaking off for an explore if I can get the SS into the boot of the car. Not after anything technical....just a nice ride with some views.
Spadeadam Moor....any ideas if possible to get to have a look at the old rocket engine testing structures, etc...or is it strictly off-limits?
There is a good loop if you take the road west-wards and then head towards the Cheviots. A farm road takes you to an old drove-road which eventually runs over the ridge. Follow to a tea-rrom the other side of the border. Then take an easterly loop back up to the ridge and then on to the PW and then Yetholm.
Given that Spadeadam is in use rather a lot, trying to gain access would probably be quite a bad thing to do.
Don't forget your compass/GPS cos it's easy to get lost up there and all the hills look the same.
