It’s best out of seven days I think.
If you win the first four days it’s game over.
To win a day you just need to do one more action than the opposition.
This is obviously the simple version it’s actually miles more complicated in reality
So in the Status panel I can see NKL and IPP, under conflict status for IPP it says "close defeat" and for NKL "close victory" with some sort of progress indicator. It looks like we're about 40% towards victory (I guess that's for the day). Am I reading that right?
It also says attack Wylie Dock and defend Tennyson - how do you do either of these things? By winning conflict zones in those areas?
As a "novice" in combat skill I'm out of my depth in combat zones, had a pop at two lows and the seemed to win in favour of NKL but do the NKL missions still count for the war? e.g. strategic data deliveries
So Perchy won 2 battles
5.
1 high, 3 medium and 1 low but Inara is broken for me and doesn’t register stuff anymore.
The BGS does though.
but do the NKL missions still count for the war? e.g. strategic data deliveries
Only combat missions, cz wins and combat bonds count. Everything else doesn’t.
Ill log in shortly and do a few CZs, if we try to log how many we did it should help toknow where we're upto and how much we need to up our game if any.
I presume high CZs are "worth" more than low, dut does repeating the same CZ help or should we try to move around the system a bit? (the High right outside wylie is the obvious one)
Do higher intensity CZs count for more? Presumably. So on the same platform e.g. PS4 is it better to have say the three of us all fighting in the same CZ or different ones? If we stayed together we might be able to win a smaller number of highs, but if we split up and win lows on our own we'd win more battles overall.
Is there any form of attrition? If we go to highs and knock out their larger ships, do they then run out of big ships and/or pilots?
I need the MCs engineered on my Anaconda I think.
2 high CZs done, 3 cutters in 1 fight, got them all, captains run some serious engineering, I had OC cytos and beam on him and a federal capital class all firing away, down to one ring then he started setting off SCBs, took ages to break them. Captain tried running, I chased him blasting away at his FSD, managed to destroy that then he was floating dead, targeted the PP and boom*!
No sign of any other CMDRs so far
*some additional steps may have been removed for time/advertising purposes
another 2. I dont have quite enough ammo for a full 2 sessions, but can cope just hang around while the last cpl of ships are killed.
Given my lack of skills I'll be working in lows. I think I won one at Tennyson. My 2nd one saw the Imperial fleet disappear after a few kills. I didn't notice any signal that I'd won it outright though. TBH, I've got no idea what I'm doing 🙂 Just shooting at IPP ships.
@molgrips it would appear vouchers are valued against the ship destroyed. Obv higher intensity spawns more ships and probably higher value. Looks like beam tagging is the order of the day, if it moves tag it!
https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Combat_Bond_Voucher
Do you have to hand in the vouchers to get the points? No I guess, cos the battle is still won right?
What happens if you don't hand them in straight away?
Combat bonds count for influence separately from the Influence gained from winning the battle. You can keep them and cash them in later or in another system if you wish.
Don’t die though. I think you lose them if you do.
1 high intensity CZ won before dinner + 800 k bonds cashed in. Will do more later.
I'll be on tomorrow evening when I get up.
Who's on tonight?
10 High CZs and Im taking a break now.
What happens if you don’t hand them in straight away?
nothing, just dont get killed. Probably be a good idea to hand them in at independant stations or atleast NKL owned stations, dont want the same influence issues we had with bounties. Been handing mine in at saharveti.
You can also get some bonuses, getting rid of a capital ship is a tasty 500,000cr, get rid of warzone correspondants bags you 50,000 cr but weirdly its from the controlling factor. I destroyed IPPs warzone correspondent for NKL and IPP give me a bond !?!
Given my lack of skills I’ll be working in lows.
I honestly think Highs are easier, theres so much going on, none of the enemy has chance toi gang up on you, aslong as you're not in a really slow ship you should be fine. Only thing to watch out for is multiple people firing on you, last few times Ive arrived at CZ and picked NKL ALL the ships on my radar turned red, whoops. The friendlies hadn't arrived yet, Boooooost away and go back once theres some greens. Do the same anytime you get more than 1 person firing on you. Boost away and engage with 1 at a time.
I’m pretty sure that for them to influence the war you need to redeem them in system. Apparently it doesn’t matter who controls the station it the faction that issued the bond that gets the influence. I’ve been cashing mine at Wylie Dock after asking the same question a couple of days (and pages) ago.
I’m pretty sure that for them to influence the war you need to redeem them in system.
Thats strange, Id have thought winning the CZ won the war and bonds was for extra credits/rep/influence. OK I'll hand the rest in at wylie.
No sign of the Imperial Enforcement dude fleet carrier.
Wonder where he’s gone?
Once I've won a combat zone and if I still have enough ammo I'm using a repair limpet to patch my hull. It seems to work.
OK, does anyone know how to apologise while in a combat zone? Was doing quite well then accidentally shot a Federal Python. Next thing the entire radar goes red. Cr@p. Boost out to a safe distance and the Feds seem to be winning so I jump back in to target some remaining Imperials and once the battle is won they turn on me. Arrgh. Hightail it out of there to repair & restock. No bounties on me but got a pasting from their Corvette.
I got smashed to 50% very quickly by Spec Ops (G5 thrusters are the best defensive mod, it seems), however each repair limpet only restored about 7-8%. Bit of a slow process that. They also make short work of my fighters. And my SLF's accent has migrated across the Atlantic somehow.
Three more done anyway, helps that I got my MCs engineered to G4, but I didn't have the mats for the autoloader mod, only incendiary.
OK, does anyone know how to apologise while in a combat zone?
I dunno, I took a friendly pot shot at some guy called matt (after the battle) but I forgot I had turreted weapons so my ship opened up on him. Oops!
You can't apologise. I did the same thing earlier, but just hung around on the fringes of the battles until we won, since it was close to the end.
6 CZs won for me tonight 3 Medium and 3 Lows. Sometimes you are just in the wrong place when Spec Ops show up and they gang up on you, I boosted away, waited for the shields to come back, then took them out one-by-one.
Currently wanted after an altercation with some IPP security on the way back to the station.
I would be surprised if any faction could support the Empire around even a small portion of the bubble. You should have seen how much work both sides were putting into Leesti (resolved by diplomacy now) and getting nowhere. Between us we have won at least 30 CZs today, it will be a shock if we have lost.
Matt

I had the same issue yesterday - and as you, hung around at the edges waiting for the win, no idea what I did to cause it.
The cause is easy, NPCs are a bit dumb and don't look where they are flying. I will sometimes ease off, if I can see one approaching, or if it's a real mess infront.
If you only ping them a little bit you usually get away with it. Aliyana is always griefing me about friendly fire!
Matt
Is there a way to check in-game how we did yesterday? How does Inara find out? Presumably using a PC plugin but where's the data even available?
There is a PC plugin for Inara data. Consoles will update with a certain frequency if the player has set it up, though you can log in to Inara and force an update.
If you are talking about the Faction states, then it is only the Inara plugin and someone needs to have it and visit the system.
Otherwise log on! I will log on after I've finished making Sunday dinner. Roast chicken today!

If I check the STATUS bar on the right hand panel:
NKL
conflict status
|------------| |====--------|
>close victory
(about a third of the way into the blue bar)
IPP
conflict status
|--------====| |------------|
>close defeat
(about a third of the way into the red bar)
Same as yesterday by the sounds of it. Perhaps the tick hasn't happened yet.
Matt
Looked to me like we were over half way to victory. Did it just update at 12pm?
OK something must have just happened, the daily tick or something. Pretty sure influence for NKL and IPP was at 37.6% it's now at 39.8% for both and the red/blue bars have jumped to about 2 thirds full and NKL is on victory and IPP defeat.
edit:
Did it just update at 12pm?
I guess so
I've traded up to corvette with fighter, trying to level my guy Gino Barnes up to deadly. 3 lasers and 2 huge PAs with plasma slug mean I can stay out of the dock for longer, got a small corrosive MC and a rail with feedback cascade when needed (which isnt often tbh), I just go for the med-large ships and only bother tagging fighters if they're already beaten up. Seems to be working well for the CZ wins but Gino isnt levelling up very fast and stray plasma bolts does seem to upset my NKL colleagues, fighting near a capital ship offers you very very big background target to accidentally hit.
If you read the news bit in the main station screen for NKL it’ll give you an update on rhe war and tell you how many days they have dominated the conflict for.
Was one yesterday, should be two today
Seems to be working well for the CZ wins but Gino isnt levelling up very fast
Give him orders to engage at will and he will go off and do his own thing. I use two fighter bays so that I can punt him straight back out if he gets destroyed
I just go for the med-large ships and only bother tagging fighters if they’re already beaten up.
I think I lost a few fighters because I had it set to attack target, and I then targeted spec ops ships which were good enough to take him straight out. I think if I choose engage at will he'll be able to make better choices for himself. Hopefully.
Another one done - hard to find the spec ops ships, although they aren't that hard to kill (one on one - they are when it's three on one.. thanks to the Prof again for saving my bacon) because they keep sitting there showing me their belly, or I keep finding it.
My pilot seems to be learning - he kept losing fighters, but then I heard him say his sheilds were lost and then he managed to recover them and finish the battle preserving his damaged fighter.
I've got two fighter loadouts - MCs and pulse - but it's hard to figure out which is best. Any thoughts?
According to the Status summary at Wylie Dock, NKL have dominated for two days.
All good, off to see if I can see a Cap Ship.
Matt
Just getting up, save some for me!
oops, managed to piss off the federal captain in his 'vette then, but only him, weird. had to avoid him for rest of battle. Also had a capital ship and I couldnt destroy the last heat plate. Said 0% but it wouldnt explode. Grr.
They don’t explode. They just bugger off.
You get a 500000 bond though
I bought a MkIV Viper, kitted it out with upgraded shields, two gimballed Pulse lasers and two Gatling guns on gimbals then went out to a low conflict zone and signed up for NKL.
It didn't go well, no, not one little bit. Now working my way back from a convict ship as I was interdicted on my 2nd trip to the conflict zone by what I assumed was a pirate, but turned out to be a copper. That got very shooty then very explodey..... again.
Maybe not suited to this shooting thing after all. Maybe should just head off again in the DBX with my tail tucked very firmly between my legs.
They don’t explode. They just bugger off.
Yeah I know. The last heat plate wouldnt explode and the cap ship wouldnt leave. Sat in place hammering the heat plate, it was at 0% but not popping. No other active heat plates on the subsystem menu. Swapped to fighter, and tried that, same. eventually won the battle, it left then.
Teamed up with squirrelking in his judged red. Did a few CZs then he had to leave, he was still in the wing as he went back to station and I noticed his shields drop and hull start to go down, hope he didnt get interdicted by bad guys.

As I mentioned previously make sure you stay on the edge of the battle, if more than 1 ship firing on your get out of there. Keep an eye on who is around you. Look for 1 red target with 1 or 2 greens around them, head for that. and help your soldiers in arms. Dont go it alone.
Just noticed another fleet carrier in system. Different one to the last guy.
About to jump in and start with the dakka and the pew. Had a boozy afternoon in the garden and a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. Probably not the best idea.
