...and given a 1k payrise!

First rise in 3 years and rather taken me by surprise as he's been all doom and gloom recently and we were expecting changes in some form or another.

Yep - he say's I'm worth every penny!

We honestly though he was pulling the plug at the end if the year. He's in his late 60's and doesn't need the money or hassle anymore and could easily retire to his villa. But he's laying out plans for next year.

It seems we are his play-thing to keep him busy and out of the house!

Who will succeed your employer when he retires? Succession is the biggest worry for sole owners; my boss had to sack his own son because the lad was a prat, then he put an MD in place who betrayed him so he had to come back out of retirement.

I'm getting an extra grand next year (for the year not per month!), but on a promise of a step up in my TLR the following year if a planned department merger happens, which will mean another 4-5 grand. Which will be nice 😉
