11 year old wants an ipod touch for birthday are there any alternatives for around the same money?

For the same money as an iPod I'd get an iPod.

If 11year old wants an iPod why would you buy something else and inferior (in their eyes) for similar money and risk a tantrum or never using it.
I have an 11 & 14 so know the score with ungrateful kids 😉
