So I'm off to New York in the near future. Thinking of getting the wife an ipad for her birthday. Can I make a decent saving if I buy over there? Or is there not much in it?

I can get 16gb Ipad 3 wifi for $489 which is about £312. I think you'll get similar prices in the US.
I looked at this a couple of weeks ago when over there. On balance, wasn't much in it for the potential grief.
