[Closed] Interesting Ebay development- Being punished ?, you decide.

A week or so ago I spoke about having some probs logging into paypal, seemingly nothing I could do 'authenticated' my account. They let me change the password without actully being logged in, but even after that it went straight to the 'authenticate page. It was only after help I discovered the only way to authenticate, was to give paypal(A subsidiary or Ebay) my mobile phone number Again I was able to add the mobile number without being logged in, and from there was sent a confirmation notice. . I joined the paypal forum looking for help at the time, and once i had logged in, I posted up several major concerns about this process. Namely being the ability to change the password and authenticate by adding any old mobile. Obviously anyone has access to your email details can take control of your paypal account, change the password, and authenticate the process by adding their mobile number. I also posted that I suspected this was an attempt to force the account holder to supply their mobile number so that paypal could send them advertising texts. Other members here pretty much agreed that was the reason. No other contact details were acceptable, only the mobile. Not my address, that has been on file and unchanging in 13 years, and not my landli9ne , which has also been on file for many years. It also appeared that they made the pretense of 'calling' the landline to authenticate, but no phone call was ever received. . This morning I awoke to find an email from ebay, saying one of my sold listings had been removed, due to it falling under the prohibited goods, namely Knives, which we know were banned, due to knife crime and he ease of access without needing to prove age(Sensible) also stating that there had been another infringement of their rules(Maybe 7 or so years ago when I left a particularly nasty seller some feedback, which on the surface sounded fine, till you noticed the capital letters of each of the feedback words spelled out FUC....R, I think you can guess the rest, Fair do's, but it was a long time ago. But they stated this was my final warning, and any further infringement would result in the suspension of my account. . The items I sold were a couple of old meat cleavers I've had since leaving the meat trade, and the sale of I knew would make a fair bit(£65) to go towards my Ebike pot. . These items were apparently banned. I know this not to be the case, so googled to find how to get a real person on the end of the phone. I got the info and arranged via ebay for them to call me back - Luckily being early morning, the wait was under a minute. I explained the situation, and the operator explained these were banned. I told him I disagreed with that, but said that I knew knives were banned, but not cleavers, as many were currently still for sale,and in completed listings many had been sold before and after the date of my sale. I pointed out thew dozen or so currently still for sale. Currently there are 10 cleavers for sale, including artisan made ones, as well as the antique and collectable ones, and that over the last few months some 24 had been sold. . I think Ebay are targeting me because I queried the mobile add, and pointed out the security concerns over the ability to easily change the password, without actually being logged in to paypal(a subsidiary of Ebay) . They are clearly very very angry about this, and have taken a long look at my ebay account, with a means of finding some infringement they can frighten me with. My ebay account is in good standing - Currently above standard. I've had a single 'neutral' in 1000 transactions. This suggests they hadn't a leg to stand on and found nothing untoward they could highlight as reason to conduct whatever shady action they were attempting, except my 2 cleavers. Which were not banned, and wasn't an infringement of theirs and the UK government rules. . This seems the logical answer to me, as there are 10 cleavers still currently for sale in the different ebay sections. . The operator thanked me for pointing that out at the time,and said those would be dealt with, yet there they are still, and even though mine had sold, and been paid for, they removed them anyway from my sold section and completed listings, but none of the others, which are still there. Does anyone know what my legal position on this is ? Im going to wait, and wait and see if any others are removed from either the currently for sale, or the completed sections, though I seriously doubt it. Ad if they aren't removed, they this is an attack against me, and the reason would be my queries on the paypal members forum. If they arent removed, what can I do ,other than to point out those for sale/sold are still for sale/sold but not removed as mine were. I feel this is a personal attack, and I want this addressed legally.
