Maccruiskeen seems to have morphed into an Italian Second World War tank. 😀

Pretty much most BBC and ITV football 'pundits'

In no particular order of uselessness -

Scholes
Chiles
Gary Neville
Lineker
Lawrenson
Lawrenson
Lawrenson
Lawrenson

And repeat.

The man should be arrested for crimes against humanity. An Englishman who wasn't good enough, so opted to play for ROI, but insists on calling England 'we'.

Jesus.

Brian Blessed was a brilliant actor in his day, some of the Shakespeare with the RSC... yes a bit old and mental but still fun

Fearne Cotton - Granddad Bill Cotton Jnr landed a job in charge of a BBC department who made sure his son got a cushy BBC job who had a daughter called Fearne. Claudia Winkleman has a famous mother as well, Eve Pollard - anyone spotting a theme? the nepotism in the media and showbiz is pissboilingly blatant

I'd go for Piers Morgan too. I'm simply unable to understand what he brings to anything.

Beyond that I have a huge list, far too long to detail here but I'll go for my top five, say.

Bono
Gary Barlow
George Osborne
Richard Madeley
All those dickheads on the only way is essex. Half of them literally struggle to tie their own shoelaces and yet they've made a career out of being stupid dickheads. How does that work? Oh right, the audience are dickheads. Forgive me.

So for clarity - 'Richard looking enthusiastic and Judy looking drunk' He would keep talking over her, she's stop then he'd try to gee her on like someone trying to teach a dog a trick and she'd just roll her eyes , exhale and slump.

...and in gif form:

Bolton and Blackburn both relegated since he left and the former got into Europe

Limited possibly ,but he has never had the players to not be, but no one is better at what he does than him IMHO

There are quite a few high profile/ media types that I can't stand but surely to get where they are either they've got some talent that I cant see or they know someone who can help them get on in their 'careers'? No surprise the usual suspects get more than one mention...
FWIW I can't stand Piers Morgan,am absolutely mystified how Richard & Judy ever made it,likewise that Geordie Cheryll bint,Jordan or whatever her name is these days and other vacuous cartoon characters.I could think of a few names but I really don't want to waste effort trying to recall them...

John Major. Elected by a country for not being someone else.

Osbourne looks a commensurate pro by comparison.

Osborne smashed out of his tree on something, probably alcohol, in parliament. Some of you voted him in. Well done.

Ant and Dec - waste of oxygen
Ian Duncan Smith - lets spend hundreds of millions to develop something that does't work
Michael Gove - why make the education system more dysfunctional
Bernie Ecclestone (and his spoilt daughters)- seems he enjoys the politics of F1 more than the racing
Miranda - you are not funny!
Greg Wallace - talking shit doesn't get any harder than this!

Well, I could take the first few steps, get distracted by a Nepalese squirrel and wander off repeatedly

...would that count?

I've got a feeling this might be a never ending thread. I agree with circa 90% of the previous names and here are quite a few more in no particular order.

*Arny and Sly --- actors my arse
*Joan Collins,Christopher Biggins, Cilla and a whole bunch of others, whats the point of them ?
*Damian Hurst, the UKs most prolific swindler closely followed by Tracey Emin
*Laurence Llewelyn Bowen - tasteless prick
*Any I'm a celeb get me out here contestant
*Robbie Williams average at best
*Robbie Savage- vain bell end
*Ed Milliband - putting him in charge was akin to assisted suicide by the labour faithful
*Geoffrey Archer - another talent-less tosser
*Prince Andrew and Mark Thatcher, free loading, titled t****
*The beared bastard called Branson - champion of free enterprise my arse - name me one, just one non regulated business he has made money from ?
*Peter Jones of Dragon Den - vain, egotistical fffing useless pseudo business man, ditto Alan Sugar

Thats it for now, I will back with more once I've slept on it 😀

Patrick Kielty. I didn't think it was possible to find someone worse than Steve Wright. I was wrong.

Is selling records regulated, or are you ignoring the obvious?

A www stop picking on Arnie and Sly... I Don't think they actually take themselves serious as actors....

Arnie had a seriously good business head and sly did write rocky and have the brains to get himself cast as Rocky...so they pretty much used what they had to get them where they were.

Did wonder who was the biggest prck thou when I saw Peter Andre driving a new Bently and tbh it was me for not getting into tele.

The title of the thread is: "Inexplicably successful careers."

Tracy is successful because she's original, witty and skilled.

This, from her Wikipedia page:

Emin is a panellist and speaker: she has lectured at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London,[3] the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland,[4] the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney (2010),[5] the Royal Academy of Arts (2008),[6] and the Tate Britain in London (2005)[7] about the links between creativity and autobiography, and the role of subjectivity and personal histories in constructing art. Emin's art takes many different forms of expression including needlework and sculpture, drawing, video and installation, photography and painting.

In December 2011, she was appointed Professor of Drawing at the Royal Academy; with Fiona Rae, she is one of the first two female professors since the Academy was founded in 1768.

Seems many of those in the position to judge, disagree with you, but what do they know that you don't, eh?

Branson and records, of course its not regulated and yes for a while he was in the right place at the right time but lets not forget he was funded by rich relatives and he really wanted Tubular Bells to have lyrics as he was convinced it would not sell as an instrumental. Thankfully from his perspective Mike Oldfield was not having any of it.
(and everyone, even Branson deserves a lucky break and this was his)

Do you remember Virgin, Brides ? Cosmetics ? Cola etc ?

Arny and Sly I am happy to agree whilst they are not what I look for in acting they must have something upstairs.

Peter Jones and his mega wealth is an illusion, just like his business prowess and as for Tracey Emin being witty original and skilled I guess your being witty by trying to convince me of that 😉

ps selling the bed to Saatchi for £150k was funny but Saatchi selling it for over £2m is taking the piss but hey ho what do I know ?

James corden. I mean how did that happen? No redeeming features or talent yet people pay him to be the glib facile amiable face of TV pedalling trite inanity to a willing doe-eyed audience.
Anyone see the Charlie Brooker thing last night with him and that bloke from take that doing a behind the scenes arse kissing thing? A mutual celebration of mediocrity and the banal that could only be made worse if it was a real live naked circle jerk with the added bonus of the other unexplainable wastes of transmission bandwidth Graham Norton and Harry Hill.

Robert Plant's Wikipedia page:

Robert Anthony Plant, CBE (born 20 August 1948) is an English musician, singer, and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the rock band Led Zeppelin. Possessing a powerful and wide vocal range (particularly using his trademark high-pitched vocals) he has also had a successful solo career spanning more than 40 years. Plant is regarded as one of the greatest singers in the history of rock and roll during which time he has influenced musicians such as Freddie Mercury, Axl Rose, and Chris Cornell.[2] In 2006, Heavy Metal magazine Hit Parader named Plant the "Greatest Metal Vocalist of All Time".[3] In 2009, Plant was voted "the greatest voice in rock" in a poll conducted by Planet Rock.[4][5] In 2008, Rolling Stone editors ranked him number 15 on their list of the 100 greatest singers of all time. In 2011, readers of Rolling Stone placed Plant in first place of the magazine's list of the best lead singers of all time.[6]

Well there you go, that's the one you were asking about.

I'm not sure what's so inexplicable about being in the right place at the right time (and having the balls to exploit that - not something many people manage).

Peter Jones and his mega wealth is an illusion

Really? So just like you, he's not actually a multi-millionaire at all?

I'm sure someone like Blessed at his age, climbing to the top of a mountain past the bodies of those who previously failed, or possibly climbing right there with you, and getting back down, could be classed as inexplicably successful.

All of the above are like Queen. The band that is. Never hugely successful, but persistent.

It shows you can be consistently crap at what you do, but persistence pays off.

Good thread this.. I think STW has pushed me into the grumpy old man phase of life early. Marvellous.

My list is:

Alan Carr
Any Radio 1 DJ
Steve Wright
Graham Norton
Anybody from reality TV
Katy Hopkins (truly vile individual)
Those bloody Kardashians
Cheryl what's her bloody name.. (Used to be Cole)
Chris Evans
Miranda
Tim and Jeremy bloody Vine
Lewis Hamilton (I know it's meant to be inexplicably.. But good god do I hate that man).
Most MP's.. Crooked bandits!

That's it off the top of my head. I'm off to calm down before I burst a blood vessel.

John culshaw. Absolute belltip. He has to mention the name of who he's taking off every time as he knows himself he's awful

He was on tv other night doing an impression of mike yarwood doing impressions. Absolutely woeful
