50l 95 unleaded into a diesel last night.

apparently, according to the guy who towed us back, in winter, they put up to 15% petrol into diesel to help deal with cold, presumably.
so yes, you can get away with it
Mrs TiRed has. Twice; £60 in petrol and £150 for removal and disposal. Then another £70 for diesel. Next car will be petrol/hybrid. Black is diesel in this country. It isn't everywhere - even though the above were in the UK.
I've never done it, but then I don't have a drivers license, much less a car.

Oh aye, I've also done an oil change and forgotten to replace the sump plug before refilling.
The only saving grace on that one was I'd also left the drain bowl under it, so at least I didn't have to try and mop a few litres of multigrade off a gravel drive.
