So as CFH's thread doesn't get polluted by too many more Spitfires etc., here's a thread for all of those. I'm guessing not too many stories to be told of actually working on these unfortunately. Though I can claim (as I did on the other thread) to have done a little bit of work on something based on one of these, which does at least make it a WW2 design.

My personal favourite of that era is

- mainly I guess because the Mossie museum was just down the road from where I was brought up, so I visited several times, and went past often.

For older things, how about one of these:

I have the great privilige to know a PR Spitfire and Mosquito pilot who has some great stories to tell... Including how he scored top marks in gunnery accuracy and was most surprised to be posted to a PR squadron!

Also how he was welcomed by none other than Leonard Cheshire when he got there. Apparently Group Captains don't normally speak to Pilot Officers...

But then Leonard Cheshire was no ordinary man.

He tells a story or two about Guy Gibson as well...

a couple of years ago, i went for a flight in one of these..[img]

passenger sits in the front (to operate the guns when it had them), so looping the loop was pretty amazing
