Live in York, Yorkshire now but would love to live in Cornwall, somewhere near the end on the Atlantic coast.

My brother moved from Harrogate to Truro two years ago.
He hates it but with two kids about to do their GCSEs he is stuck.

Interesting that a couple choose Edinburgh. I live just outside it and my plan is to move North in a couple of years. Mind you, I'll not be looking for employment so that makes the choice easier. I've always loved the Cairngorms but a sea view also appeals.

Living in York myself, but if money was no object. I think it would be Heptonstall.
New Zealand...mountains, undulating grasslands, glaciers, beaches...just about every type of terrain bar deserts.

Difficult one. I like Perthshire. Dunkeld is at the edge of the Highlands but close to Perth for work.
If work was less pressing then Assynt is hard to beat. I think the most spectacular part of the UK.
Live in Peebles at the moment which has everything I need. If looking further afield then New Zealand is the only country outside of Scotland I would wish to live.

i live in a village 15 mins from inverness, 3 mins from the beach and 10 mins from learnie trails, road bike routes on my backdoor, cairngorms 30 mins away, oh and klunk i built the gate lodge and estate managers house in photos on your link, multi millionaires pad at ailean aigas , yup ticks all the boxes here............ 😀

Very happy where I am just now - Suffolk, prettily undulating countryside, trails from my door, forests nearby, coasts ditto - great local food, and Adnams beer........or in another life, Bishops Castle or Montgomery on the Shropshire/Powys border (so much good riding nearby, and again cracking beer and food, plus prehistoric hill forts).....or Northumberland......or the Gower.
Ambleside......please.
Looking to move to somewhere up near Huddersfield next year, providing we can both find jobs. Work/life balance choice. Thought about North Norfolk, the Lakes, Cornwall and the Highlands, but South/West Yorkshire gives us the best chance of suitable jobs in an area with good biking and walking links and decent transport links.
I love the 'Gorms and the North East but, really, Inverness has got to be the least inspiring town (ok, city)in the country..

Really? I've just moved from there after 4 years. Finally had enough of inflated prices for everything and ****s from up the line remarking on how I must have a wonderfully slow pace of life. The mountain biking is shite too (road riding is good though).
Much happier being back in Plymouth. I've no intention of moving anywhere. It's not for everyone though.
Lakes - NW beyond Keswick. All the good bits cheaper and less tourists.
I was in and around Cockermouth for 2 stints about 6/7 years in total. Best place I have lived. As much as you want on your doorstep, good employment in lots of areas, day trip distance to lots of places, short weekend trips to loads more. And some fine beer and great people.

The house on the wee promontary out into derwent water, directly across from watendlath. Beautiful.
Actually very happy where I am in NE Scotland.
I have the beach on my doorstep & the Cairngorms are less than 1hr away, with lots of nice riding inbetween

Stunning coastline and not too crowded.
I love Northumberland but it is just too cold.....
I'd move 6 miles along the coastline from where i stay at the moment (kircudbright sw-scotland), buy a nice little beach house chalet and i'd be perfectly happy and content, one room for sleeping in, one room for bikes, one room for eating/drinking/socialising with a wee log burner for heating/cooking and a glass wall fronting onto the shoreline or beach. Trouble is the cost of the land is prohibitive otherwise i'd have plonked a caravan/mobile home down already, Anyone got a spare £80,000 they don't need so i can at least buy the land?.
if I didn't have to worry about income, I'd move to Eire. specifically, NW, Co Longford/Leitrim. Makes you realise how overcrowded West Yorkshire really is
North Devon or Pembrokeshire.
Don't know what I'd do for a living though. Manufacturing is non-existent in both, and I certainly don't want to work in an oil refinery.
But if the lottery numbers came up The Wife has ear marked the house she wants in Saunton. 🙄

For me I reckon it possibly would be outskirts of Edinburgh - if I could ever afford it. Somewhere around Keswick would do nicely too.
On balance (riding/work) I'm hard pushed to think of better than here in Bethesda (N. Wales) – particularly given the sunshine and a colourful autumn. A 7 mile off road commute into uni' to keep me ticking over and lots of mountains on my door step with trails that I don't even know about yet. What else could one want?

Not the new places, one of the Edwardian houses. Or my choice, the big place just as you round the corner at Down End Point, up on the hill.
I would look for a farm house in rural Wales somewhere.
But I do love Northumberland. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet.
Bbshed , my friend used to house sit the big one with the tennis courts on the track opposite the golf course. Very nice, plus its next to that climb up to the masts.
Would need a fat bike for the burrows as well.
I have a soft spot for North Yorkshire. Spent a few years there at uni and, after growing up in London, riding on the moors was my first taste of proper biking. There is also really good surfing to be had up there. Friendly locals.
The other place would be North Cornwall. Not sure how good the riding is but its got good surfing and pretty clean beaches.
Never been to the West coast of Ireland but I've had riders come over from there and it sounds highly good.
Can't see me moving far from where I am now on Speyside. I love it! Cairngorms 45mins, beach 30 mins. Braw! 😀
When its sunny..North Yorkshire (funnily enough i live there already)...but as its rarely sunny up here, i'd have to say Hampshire or Kent, given how much warmer it is down there, and France and Europe is a short drive away.
Having said that i was in shorts and Tshirt yesterday whilst biking Wensleydale and Swaledale. It was GLORIOUS. I gather it was shite down South..
I wouldn't want to live anywhere other than where I already am on Eastern Dartmoor.
Great riding and beautiful countryside on my doorstep. Can get to either North Cornwall or South Devon coasts within an hour. Surf in the morning / MTB in afternoon is possible in the summer months. Town we live in is really friendly with loads going on - great for young families and with a strong community feel. I know about 10 times more people after 18 months living here than I did in almost 10 years of living in a similar sized village in the South East. Also some great local pubs and places to eat and a surprisingly lively local music scene.
I'm lucky enough to work within the national park, but it's also easily commutable to Exeter or Plymouth. All good basically.
Surrey is great for an all round life style, countryside, work, travel links etc. But the West Country beckons when work is no longer required....or perhaps the Isle of Purbeck. The weather has got to be a big factor if you're out in it most of the day.

Actually that is one of the only downsides of living here in the SW - it's warmer than a lot of the rest of the UK, but also a lot wetter than the E side of the country.
