Can't remember too much about his football but him and Greavsie were good to watch together, I'm feeling my age this morning now I'm in my 60th year and Hannu Mikkola dying last week

A local legend. Scored a hat trick in 2 minutes and 30 seconds for the 'Well.
I used to buy sweeties from his brothers wee Post Office.

When I was about 12 I was a caddy for him at a charity fundraiser golf day.

On one hole he wasn't sure if he could reach the green so asked me for a short club to play safe. I told him he should go for the green and he changed his mind and let rip with a wood, straight into a pond.

He was utterly livid and I didn't get a tip.

Thanks, that made my tea squirt out my nostrils! 😆

RIP Saint, you are a legend!

He pops up a bit in this - if you haven't already seen it, it's essential.

Yep, Saint and Greavsie. Used to watch before going off to play on a Saturday afternoon.
Near a cup final weekend, they had a cabbie on who was a bit of a celebrity at the time (might have won mastermind or something), he was interviewed by Jimmy Greaves and was asked, "what was the best ball you ever hit in a game". The cabbie replied, "not in a game, but i hit a couple of really good balls the other day when i stood on a garden rake". I thought Ian St would die laughing. And being live pre-watershed it was even funnier.
RIP.
