Get a big bag of nose-candy for whenever you go out. Job done
Holy S***. You got 7 replies in the time it took me to write two sentences.
I've got to practice my forum participation.
Problem is, I see even less reason to talk to people when I'm drunk.
Cocaine? Or beer.
I'm shy in real life too TSY, who'd have thought it?

Ecstasy is supposed to be good for eliminating shyness... or so I'm told 😆
Practice extended ways of saying 'Hello'
Instead of 'hi' try ''Good to meet you, How are you doing?'
Learn a few opening lines And ways of saying them.
Have you always lived here?
basically lots of questions which give folks the opportunity to talk about themsleves
you are shy in the real world 😯
Ah I have got it you need advice on helping the ladies/boys/lady boys to be less shy with you.
Lycra and minty arse lard cream is my advice
I think I have an accute form of shyness related to meeting people off here and beautiful women.
The combination of the two sends me to near silence.
Regardless... I want to hear people's views.

When I was a teenager I was very shy for much of the time so I joined a drama class at school to make me HAVE to overcome the shyness. When I left college I took a summer job being a tour guide which helped further.
Now I am not shy, although I am not the best at walking up to someone in a crowded room. But when it comes to presenting to clients, talking to groups of students etc I have zero problems.
So perhaps you should join a drama club, a public speaking group or some night class where you will need to communicate with people? Or maybe stand for being a local councillor?
Only meet people who are good to talk to and with whom you have something in common. The rest, don't bother talking to 🙂
Or just do SITS with us.
Now I know you're taking the pee!!
I think I have an accute form of shyness related to meeting people off here and beautiful women.
maybe i'm just one of those super welcoming warm friendly people... but the second time you met me you slept over, stole my tupperware, forced our bikes to have sex in the kitchen and coped with mrsconsequence being herself. so don't talk yourself down!
unless your saying mrsconsequence isnt a beautiful women?

I found that the best way to get over shyness is to stop giving a flying fridge what other people think of you 🙄
"Fake it til you make it"
Once you realise that you can't die of embarrasment, it all gets easier.
remember shy men tend to have massive schlongs, this is a very useful icebreaker (literally, sometimes) at parties where you may find yourself stuck for a topic and unable to approach a young lady. Just step in with this subject and she'll fall at your feet.
...people off here and beautiful women. The combination of the two...
Have I missed something?
Realman you've not met Auntie C_G have you?
ah,.. It seems we've all walked in on a PConsequence/TSY/emsz group-frot-thread again.
as if there werent enough in the forum already....
Stoner.. he's a mate, someone who's met me out there <^> and might actually be trying to genuinely help.
Its all about pushing out your comfort zones.
I have a stutter and am a member of a speech therapy programme called the mcGuire programme. as well as the pyhsical side of a stutter there is a big mental side to it, so stutterers are afraid of stuttering, so they try to avoid speaking.
what we do is find oppurtunities to speak, so we get more comfortable with it, whether that be walking up to strangers in the street, making phone calls or public speaking. it all helps to make you realiss it isn't so bad.
So, if you are shy force yourself not be and to speak to people, you'll soon realise it isn't so bad after all. Do it tonight, speeak to someone in the supermarket, if I can do it, you definitely can!
relax stoner... just pointing out that apart from not wanting to be in photos, tsy didnt come across as shy when met in real life. its easy to think you're crippled with shyness when surrounded by big personalities, but from an outsiders point of view... tsy doesnt come across as shy. knowing him better and having spent more time with him i know that he's not lying when he says he's shy in real life... but he should take some confort knowing that he doesnt come across that way, so the first barrier is already down 🙂
I was a shy boy. I just grew up, really. No magic solution.
😳
Move to a foreign country and learn a new language - that will cure it in no time 😛
I have, but I fear I am too young for her.
You're just jealous there isn't a Stoner/Flashfart/other right-whingers group-frot-thread, is all. 😉
I have, but I fear I am too young for her.
Probbly true. She likes real men.

Chronic shyness really is something that needs to be treated properly through talking to professionals. The first place I would go is my GP and try and get them to take it seriously. Maybe see if they can get you refered to a CBT specialist.
Not (even remotley) a professional btw, but I work with people who are.
Maybe look into something like this

Being shy is not entirely an un-natural thing, but by putting yourself in situations where you have to "get on with it", you soon come to realise that there wasn't really anything to be afraid of in the first place, and if anything wonder why you were anxious or shy in the first place. Again, that's my un-trained opinion.

I found that the best way to get over shyness is to stop giving a flying fridge what other people think of you
That's what I was going to say.
Best achieved by becoming comfortable with yourself if possible - rather than just being misanthropic.
She likes real men.
Do I detect a hint of bitterness?
Blimey, this isn't going to help... I start a topic and it's turning into a fight. Best just keep my mouth shut.

That's a very good answer. Apart from the local councillor bit. Don't do that. 😀
