I was tidying out my drawers of riding kit earlier and decided to do some counting. So not including base layers, how many cycling specific tops do you have ?
In my case, I added up short and long sleeved jerseys, gilets and jackets, including waterproof riding jackets.
I got to 55...
this seems a lot, looking for some perspective .. 🙂
17. 55 does seem a lot 🙂
At a guess I think I have around 15 or so...
I'm going with "quite a few" and taking no further questions at this time 🙂
I need that Homer backing into the hedge gif 🙂

^^ i don't know what that means Matt, probably something rude i guess ! 🙂
26 but it includes about 4 or so gilets/waterproof jackets that never get worn. Most of the rest get worn at some point in the year.
I thought I was gonna be telling you "those are rookie numbers, etc" but 55... bloody hell.
I must have 30 tops (tops), across road and MTB.
It's got to be over 60 if you are including jackets and gilets. The daft thing is I wear the same couple of outfits for my commute all summer. They get worn, washed and worn again. The majority of my clothing sits in drawers or suitcases doing nothing. I know I have at least two expensive road jackets in my work locker that still have the tags on them.

phew.. 🙂
More than 20, less than 50.
I certainly have a few event/shop jerseys that are rarely worn, a couple bought as travel souvenirs. I'm genuinely surprised though that all your clothing is size L.
27 including far too much Merino and Rapha.
3 and I only have 3 as I got a free one because YT had an issue getting my bike to me.
I actually ordered a new Rapha LS jersey the other week, only to cancel it a few hours later when I remembered that I had the exact same one already !
I've done sort outs of my clothing from time to time and found jerseys I'd forgotten I had.
I have fewer than 55 jerseys though so I'm OK on that front!
I feel so much better now. I’m sure I have less than 50 (hopefully). But I want at least one more.
Thanks for the thread, I'm feeling quite minimalist. At least in terms of purchases. Dozens of t-shirts from events though (mostly running). Cotton ones wear out but the synthetics last for ever, even though they've had a lot of use. One issue with cycling kit is that long-sleeved stuff is usually too short in the arms so I don't buy much, and short-sleeved stuff is too cold to wear most of the year in the UK!

large in Rapha and Endura tops, XL in Castelli ones. Shorts generally M or L, bibs usually L
Less than 10

so do I ! I am counting probably a dozen plus softshells/hard shell jackets and gilets in that 55

One of my clothing clear-outs, I got rid of many T-shirts from numerous events. They all went to a clothing bank so I imagine there's a bunch of refugees in some war-torn encampment in Syria comparing their respective Merida / Kona 100 T-shirts or wondering what a Dirty Reiver is.
POIDH = Pics Or It Didn’t Happen
To do that I’d have to lay them all out and then my wife would see them…
not happening. 🙂

Or maybe it's like the Barry Manilow Concert For Ethiopia - "we're not that hungry" 🙂
Riding tops are the nearest thing to fashion that I indulge in, can't wear roadie tops for gravel, or vice versa, and can't now wear anything with old school short/elasticated hem sleeves, must be laser cut and finish below bicep level.
Meanwhile I wear work shirts that I've probably owned for 10 years lol
I chucked away about 40 jerseys, long and short sleeve 5 or 6 years ago.
Basically a couple of decades worth of duplicated club and team kit.
Just kept one set of each and a few other bits and pieces. Most of them are/were unwearable as the elastic has gone, but nice to keep them as a momento.
(Also chucked training jackets, bib shorts, socks, gloves, caps etc... Probably 100 items all told.)
No idea what i have left, probably about 30. Excluding jackets gilets etc

Just count her shoes first, then you've a comparison...
If we're talking everything from base layers to jackets; about 20 items.
55 is quite a lot
Across mountain biking and road/gravel biking, and including jackets/gilets, then about 30 and I've literally just taken delivery of another (mail-order) jersey this morning...
In that number, I've got at least 3 that are at least 25 years old (though used very rarely).
Seems like I am a bit of an outlier !
most of this kit is less than 3 yrs old, but I don’t think a clear out makes sense, as I’d not get very much for used jerseys and I don’t really need the cash or the space.
i have now set myself a goal of buying no more bike clothing for a considerable time !
I've conducted an extensive audit, independently verified, and can confidently declare that I owe one whole riding top.
I owned another one once.
More than 55... facepalmgif
I'd be surprised if I was at much less than 55, counting jackets and gilets and stuff. I probably have 7 or so waterproof jackets alone.
and can confidently declare that I owe one whole riding top.
So you borrowed it?
So you borrowed it?
I ride like I stole it
