[Closed] How long should an oven last?

Had a belling that would get through fan and grill elements every couple of years. A couple of times you could see the elements had split just taking the fan cover off. An easy fix as elements are meant to be replaceable.

Have you been able to have a look?
As others have said espares for parts, no doubt your oven will be shared across a large number of brands.

As long as I get back to a position where I possess a fully functioning cooker without paying for it myself I’ll be happy.

I can understand how you feel, but I think I’d settle with feeling a little unhappy and just go ahead and fix it myself at this point. I guess it depends on how much you payed for it. The cookers in Curry’s go from £170 to £4000, if it was at the lower end then it was a bit of a gamble it would last much longer than a couple of years - and when you gamble you have to accept it may not go the way you want.

There may be nothing you want from Curry’s but it would be easy enough to find a few presents for others, that would offset the cost of the parts and ease the pain.

imho of course.

If I had the first idea how to fault find it I would have done it already. Mechanical stuff is fine, I’ve rebuilt many engines over the years, but I’m not so confident with electrical stuff.
