[#10096664]

The one where you quote someone else and it appears in your comment within a box?

Hit the " button.

Paste in the quote.

Hit return twice.

The flashing line for typing will return to the far left of the box.

Did you do the incantation first?

Does it work?

Edit : Thanks for asking, Blackflag, I've been wondering. 😊

Remember not to copy the poster's name or status otherwise this brilliant (not) editor will mess it all up.

Sounds good. I must now graduate to photos and you tube embedding.

@Drac   guess so but a twitter convention is a convention best avoided as far as I'm concerned

(and for the nerds I know it predates twitter) and i guess is better than several lines of <><<><<><><><><<>

It only works properly if you raise both hands, put your index and middle fingers together and twitch the fingers twice before pasting the quote content.

Anon or otherwise I'll accept any thanks going 🙂

Pictures? Click the picture icon (the one at the right hand end of the editor's toolbar, paste the URI of the image into the box and click OK. The URI has to be publicly accessible so it can't be local to your machine. It also has to be of the image, not the web page it is on. The previous editor could work out the image if you just posted the URI of the page, this one can't.

Oh, yes, the editor doesn't handle quoting emojis very well either. 🙄

Nah. It won't get fixed as it pushes the thread page count up and therefore more ad impressions 🙄

For images just paste the link direct into the text box. Unlike the previous forum it sorts the code for you.

After you paste the text, select the text and hit the Clear Formatting button, else you still risk the bollocks software showing HTML code all around it.

Of course we could have an actual quote button next to a post which does all the work for you, like on almost every other forum in the world, but this is STW so it needs its quirkiness.
