How do I post a link to Mastodon?

If I post a link to Mastodon, then instead of being nicely embedded it comes out looking like the below link. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I just hit the same issue. The embedding is buggered - hardly surprising given the young age of the source - and I can't imagine it being fixed any time soon given that embedded Amazon links have presented as Kindle links for several years now. I coded it exactly like you just did.
