Don't bother with any syncing malarkey. Buy an adapter for a couple of quid and you can just slot your micro sim into it.

You have your contacts on your SIM? How very 20th Century of you.
You can get adapters that turn micro SIMs into regular ones. Ask at your local phone shop, they'll probably give you one gratis.
What I'd do is sync with Outlook / Gmail and then sync back from there, depending what phone you're moving -to- of course.
EDIT - is that what Johnners meant? Sorry, misread.
