I have a weird situation with my hosepipe (ooh err missus!).
I have a simple Hozeleock hosepipe, with a short pipe from the tap to a drum, and then a long pipe coiled on the drum. This morning I turned on the tap and no water came through. Obviously a kink in the hose, so I uncoiled it all, straightened it out - nope. I'll spare you all the intermediate steps, but in the end I took the long hose off the drum and confirmed that water would flow one way, but not the other. WTF? This is a hosepipe. A long piece of hollow plastic. I refitted the hose to the drum in the reverse direction. Works.
This is beyond me. What am I not seeing here?
That's certainly more plausible than my hypothesis which was that a cone-shaped worm had crawled into the hose.
Now I feel stupid 🙁
It may be full of Thrizels,they usually leave in the spring after hibernating in hosepipes,but give it a blast with an airline,should sort it. Oh,and try not to get any in your hair. 😆 🤣

You say that like it's ridiculous but I did actually wonder if I could connect my compressor to the end of the hose.
You can see why I find disk brake fettling challenging ....

The Hozelock, or similar, stopvalve connectors, (usually have a red band round) have a torpedo shaped bit inside with an O ring fitted. These sometimes get stuck but can be removed with some needle pliers. Using an airline can expel these with great force, think Nerf gun X 100!
Hahaha! Those Hozelock water stop connections:o) Had my pressure washer in bits for two days before I figured out it was a dodgy hose end! Duh!
Could also be the inside of the hose has delaminated and is catching the water one way but not the other way.(if not an NRV non return valve issue)
Hmmm. Now it occurs to me that this saga began when I fitted a 3rd party trigger spray attachment. Maybe it buggered up the aqua-stop thingy. I’ll have a closer look ….
Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in again?

Ah, some thrid party trigger attachments don't activate the valve !
I have some heavy duty metal fittings that will connect to the standard plastic connectors but don't work with the stop valves. Only their own heavy duty stop valve.

Turns out it was actually the opposite problem - the third party trigger worked fine but messed up the valve so that then the Hozeleock attachment wouldn't work. Who'd have thought that a plastic tube could be so complicated !!

It's not a non-return valve... That would be fitted to your plumbing in the house.
The aqua stop is for the action end of the hose, so you can change weapons without getting wet.

I'm not talking about aqua stop. I'm talking about the non return valve fitting which should be fitted to the tap if the tap does not have one internally. Hozelock do a nrv for bib taps which don't have an internal nrv. OP didn't state weather he had an aqua stop fitted, hence my comment. I was assuming he had the hose on the wrong way round. The older hozelock nrv looked the same as the standard fitting so it was easy to fit them the wrong way round when not paying attention. IIRC the older nrv had a red nut thread as opposed the grey standard fitting.
Are you absolutely certain there isn’t a tiny window to another dimension situated at some point inside the hose. It may seem like a long shot but the water could be disappearing through that and pouring out somewhere in a different galaxy?
