@cpt.sasquatch, you did come up with a great name. I think the description from NW emphasised it very well ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bizarrely I was about to write up exactly the same description as it's simply a question of how I'd look for it on Google, but when I opened the thread Northwind had done it much more eloquently than me. ๐Ÿ™‚
Good luck with the project.

Make sure both the .com and .co.uk domain names are available and take them both, really, even if you aren't ready to create a website. If the domain isn't available then find a different name

Sorry if this obvious but I've had friends caught by this before. They pick a beautiful but simple name that isn't available but they use it anyway. They then use a longer but different domain name of which there is already an existing company using the .com version so it is very difficult to find them using internet search.

After a busy weekend going round visiting a few different places to look and display these pieces it's become apparent that it would be classed as a sculpture and have a few galleries interested in them (and a fair bit of interest through FB)
So will be looking for something for a name that has 'sculpture' in there somewhere..
Thanks for all the ideas guys, there's lots to play with ๐Ÿ™‚

Hit Google with some preferred terms and see what pops out, I usually go for images until I see what I'm looking for.
3D sculpted maps doesn't show me anything like what you're proposing to sell.
3D maps, on the other hand, does put me in the right sort of area. In my opinion.

The other part is to think and define what exactly it is you do. Do you sculpt or make maps? How do you want the customer to view you? Who is your customer? And how do they perceive you?

I love this business idea stevied, wish you all the best. From someone who has intimately studied and photographed/painted the Malverns for over a decade - i can appreciate the attraction. It's obvious from this and other threads that landscapes become very special to many people. I had a similar (yet appreciably different) idea to yours (pre-affordable 3D printing) about twenty years ago - yet would back then had to hand-sculpt and paint each one so filed the idea as a novelty limited edition art project. You have set me off dreaming again!

As for names - I too vote The 3D Map Company

Mini Metal Mountains

Terrasculpt

sculpterrain

There is a company called tinymt - have a look at their stuff?
