I don't think he can see all that from where he's standing eldridge.
my earlier post appears almost precogniscent! 🙂

a precedent for Patricia? 😉
Better still, take a little trip to the West End of Morecambe.
Better still, avoid all ends of Morecambe. Happy childhood memories, went back recently, what a shithole.
Take a tour of the Ridge estate. Nose around Skerton a bit. Pop down to the Marsh. Better still, take a little trip to the West End of Morecambe.
I work in the west end of morecambe - and it's a hell of a lot better round there than it was a few years ago.
Your average person from a council estate living on benefits in this country is still living in ****ing paradise compared to the vast majority of the world's population, so you can save me the Daily Mail bullshit about 'this country is screwed' etc.

I really don't agree - I was in Morecambe last weekend, the weather was great, it was absolutely rammed and looked lovely. The prom area has been really nicely done up, and the view across the bay is beautiful. The town itself is still fairly shabby though I suppose, but it's a definite improvement on a few years ago.

I have also worked quite a bit in all those estates, and again things seem to me to be improving in those areas, not getting worse. I know plenty of people who live in those areas and they have their problems but it's no-one's starving to death are they.
A friend of mine runs a charity in Nigeria - now there's a 'screwed up' country.
Your average person from a council estate living on benefits in this country is still living in **** paradise
.......... so you can save me the Daily Mail bullshit
LOL ! 😀
Well done ernie - how clever of you. Selective quoting and snidey comments instead of actually discussing what I said. Bravo.
and snidey comments
Comment ? What comment ? .......... no comment was necessary 😀
I was meaning this one
I don't think he can see all that from where he's standing eldridge.
Never mind.
the hypocrisy and undermining effect of having a senior public servant break a law that they are intimately involved in applying to others
Is it hypocrisy if it's an honest mistake? I'm not so sure it is.
I was meaning this one
Oh I see ........... you've changed your take on my "snidey comments" have you ?
Yesterday it was this :
grumm - MemberActually I'm sitting. 🙂
Feeling a bit miserable today are we ?
*he says in a snidey sort of way*
and the pressure mounts... from within the government of all places!

[i]Wirral West MP Stephen Hesford has resigned his position as Government aide over Baroness Scotland's refusal to stand down.
Hesford was PPS to the Law officers, and says in his letter of resignation that he: "cannot support the decision which allows her to remain in office."

Grumm has a point lets gets some perspective here. A western area of deprevation (which Skerton and the West end are ...I worked at skerton when it was in special mesures BTW) is a far way removed from an African/third world area of deprevation. No one is dying here, they have water, sanitation, free education, health care, benefits etc.

Excellent .......I expect New Labour to win a landslide majority next general election then.
I can't for the life of me, imagine why Alistair Darling keeps talking down the economy and saying things are the worst they've been for 60 years ............ maybe they're bored/fed up of being in power 💡

straight from the RudeBoy school of argument. Hyperbole and extreme comparison.
How about when CallMeDave becomes PM, to placate the inevitable rage-spitting of Grumm, we can all just point out that at least he's not being governed by Prime Minister Bertie Wooster. Small mercies.
No Stoner, you're wrong. As Junkyard says, "lets gets some perspective here"
So comparing Britain with "an African/third world" country is perfectly appropriate.
....... specially presumably, after 12 years of New Labour.
ZanuLabour?
Mugabenomics?
I get your point.
Hyperbole
You mean like saying that New Labour have 'screwed up the country'?
I can't for the life of me, imagine why Alistair Darling keeps talking down the economy and saying things are the worst they've been for 60 years ............ maybe they're bored/fed up of being in power
Yes because our government caused a worldwide recession didn't they - nothing to do with sub-prime mortgages in America.

I suspect that CallMeDave won't really make a massive difference to most people's lives either.
Yes because our government caused a worldwide recession didn't they
You seem to be trying to shift the blame grumm ....... why would you do that if everything was just fine and hunky dory ?
.
Mugabenomics?
Now that's not fair Stoner, the economy has improved in Zimbabwe recently.
Zimbabwe inflation eases further
See ? Everyone was laughing at Mugabe ........now who's laughing ?
And it all goes to prove my point, that despite the claims by people like yourself Stoner, there is no such thing as a "failed economy". There are no "truths" and no "this is the way it MUST be". Economies always survive, and economists invariably talk bollox (except for Marx). The only thing that counts/matters is in who's interest they serve. In Zimbabwe's case, the economy has served Mugabe and his cronies very well.
The fall off in zimbawean inflation growth is down to Tsvangarai's lot, not Mugabe.
Mugabe's approach was to print money, causing hyuperinlfation. The Unity governments changed policy earlier this year to allow foreign currency to be used instead bringing much more stability to prices.
Given Gordon's been printing £75bn I think he's proved more of a Mugabeist than Mugabe 😉
Mayeb we should move to a foreign currency. Bring on the Euro! 😉
is down to Tsvangarai's lot, not Mugabe.
The point is, the Zimbabwean economy didn't collapse/die/disappear/cease to exist/whatever. OK, you might have needed a wheelbarrow of bank notes to buy a loaf of bread (if you could find one) but the economy still functioned/existed. But most importantly, the ruling elite simply did not suffer. And that is what counts - ie, in who's interest an economy functions. I repeat, there are no "truths" which dictates whether or not an economy "works"..... they all work.
but the economy still functioned/existed
I think we may have different definitions of function and existence.
I gather Mrs Thather still technically functions and exists, but as to the efficacy of either I think there may be some debate 😉
I think we may have different definitions of function and existence.
Clearly if you can buy a loaf of bread with a wheelbarrow full of banknotes, it proves that an economy is functioning.
The difference between economists of left and right, isn't who is mathematically correct and who mathematically incorrect, but who is morally correct and who is morally incorrect.
So don't be giving me all your fancy equations, graphs, and other bollox Stoner !
So don't be giving me all your fancy equations, graphs, and other bollox Stoner !
You mean actual information and evidence rather than half-baked pseudo-marxist waffle? No we can't have that can we.
.......half-baked pseudo-marxist waffle?
My waffle is very well baked grumm. Did you want to comment on any of it ?
LOL ! (literally) 😀
The former housekeeper of the attorney general, Lady Scotland, has been arrested and questioned by immigration officers.
Loloahi Tapui, 27, an illegal immigrant from Tonga whose employment by the attorney general prompted calls for Scotland to stand down, was held by UK Borders Agency officers in Chiswick, south-west London, yesterday.
A spokesman said she had been questioned over alleged immigration offences and released on bail until October. Officers also arrested a man she claims to be her husband, Alexander Zivancevic, a Serbian-born solicitor.

Gosh, that's a shock ................ I wonder who grassed her up Cap'ain ?
A Mr Clifford has been seen in the area, Ernie.....
