The whole show is toss, it would be far better if they recorded it as the live element doesn't add anything. Guy wants to hit 80 but they won't allow so they can hit the to schedule.
Hope he gets to play after everyone ****s off home

Which begs the question why you're posting on this thread. Is it 'cos you love Guy? You want to kiss him don't you?

It's commercial TV.
The longer the program, the more adverts are sold. A 30 minute program wouldn't have enough adverts to make it financially viable.

Agreed. He'll never get the chance to do this again so it's now or never.
That's some big old rig they've built for him.

So they know what g he can take, and therefore can calculate his potential maximum speed per g.

Maximum g sat in a seat looking out of the window isn't the same as riding a bike at the same g.

It's ok to be attracted to him, don't stress. I reckon he's great at cuddles.

Part way through his book and reading about how he hates attention, media, getting recognised. Either he's spinning us a yarn or he can't afford the mortgage anymore.... Not impressed ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

That was brilliant. I'm so glad he did it on his own, British, bike not that lumpy Indian. That bike looked fantastic and sounded even better. I was slightly nervous and I'm genuinely impressed. Best TV since he did the cycling speed record for me. Superb. Love it. Just wished he could have gone again, but maybe they did him a favour, who knows..?

I loved it, and I love his Slough/acting northern accent too, as its a proper Lincolnshire accent, just like mine. If you don't like stuff on the box, don't watch it.
For me it's a shame he didn't go for that last run, when Stevie Jones cut him off. Never have I thought guy would die on a bike, unlike other road racers. I reckon he could have got a little more out of it. Then again, Mr fox could have got more probably. Good viewing from my tele, and I'll more than likely watch again when repeated

Good stuff. Great to see him do it on his "homemade" bike instead of the Indian. Bet there's a bit of sponsorship spewing going on there...

He's a thoroughly watchable chap. Not sure the live aspect added to it. I'd have been quite happy to watch a recorded version of that with the normal narrator rather than Steve Jones.

Surely they could have found a better presenter.

I reckon Guy was a bit miffed when he was told he couldn't go again at the end as he obviously wanted 80+. Would have loved it if he'd told Steve Jones to piss off and done another run anyway. Prefer the programmes where he builds stuff with a bit less padding but it was still better than anything else on tv tonight.

Loved the way the camel toe comment slipped out at the end ๐Ÿ˜†

Enjoyed it but totally wrong presenter. Steve Jones completely out of his depth especially with a live Guy and mates babbling on. Reckon they should have roped DC in as main presenter seeing as he was just there filling space.

Guy looked proper miffed he couldn't go again. Like others I reckon those bikes are probably still ripping round that wall right now...

Well, seeing as he's been diagnosed as having mild Asbergers, and he doesn't actually own a house, I'd say you're spot on.

Well my lads 9 and 7 were glued to it, I think that's more the point, than what any of us older ones think. Great that they can be learning about centripetal force and physiology through a spectacle like that, than watching xfactor or something else vacuous and pointless.
Ps I also enjoyed it! cameltoe comment at the end an added bonus!

Only managed to catch 10 mins of it earlier, pretty good.
But......I remember seeing the wall of death at Dreamland in the 80s and remember the 'arena' being much smaller than the one on TV tonight...?

Science innit. Was explained pretty well during the show but basically the larger the wall the faster you can go before the g force gets too much. Inverse is also true so a smaller wall allows a slower rider to stay up, slow enough for a cyclist to do it!

Good show but glad I started 30 mins late and had the option to fast forward a little.

I only caught 10 mins of the show when on a break at work so yes was thinking that the larger wall it would be 'easier' to go faster.

A good concept and a great result but a large chunk of the programme was just terrible. The live element added nothing to the spectacle and as has been pointed out, meant that Guy couldn't do another run and therefore "put the record out of reach" or whatever they said. Kind of defeating the whole objective of the programme. All the recorded bits were up to the usual Speed with . . . Standards.

Steve Jones was a mistake and what was up with the timing/speed recording and camera positioning? It was almost like they hadn't tested any of it. The info delay and commentary was comical, thank god this isn't the channel presenting Formula 1.

Oh.

Anyway, well done Guy it was a great achievement and mostly a good programme.

Cool feat but a bit of a mess of a show...

Funny, I've seen Ken Fox's show live and after about 20 seconds I was like "seen all I need to", I bailed after a couple of minutes. But that big wall just totally outdoes my brain's ability to comprehend it, even though it's such simple physics it's just tooooo biiiiiig

Tbh i think the producers were saving guy from guy.

Guy would keep going till he ended up in a heap sprayed across the wall at high speed.

His runs were getting sketchier and sketchier - his mentor seemed to agree.

Reckon they should have roped DC in as main presenter

They only brought DC along to reignite the embarassing mancrush from the F1 show.

The bromance was firmly cemented by the examination of GM's cobblers at the end.

I think Guy would have kept at it until he'd fallen off. The producer clearly had the record in the bag and didn't want the shot of the ambulance pulling away with most of Guy Martin in it.

Thought it pretty meh TBH.

Thank heavens I recorded it, I fast forwarded to the last 15mins or so.

Not one of his better programmes.

Thought it was a bit car crash TV, but not bad watching all in all.

Loved how he didn't need to be in the zone, warmed up or anything. Once he knew it was possible he just did it. Doesn't make presenting and building it up that easy - especially live.

Agree that he would have gone on until he fell off or flew off.

Well done to Shanaze Reade, even if her bit looked a bit rushed and 'oh, it's done' haha

Fantastic job by the producers in milking about five minutes of action for a 90 minute show. I fell asleep twice.

Yup after months of training and a few warm up laps away he went.

There was only ever going to be a very limited amount of "wall time"
That is why they tried to explain the difficulties of sustained G forces,
Guy was basically blacking out (vision) - next stage passing out unconscious in
a very few seconds.

Didn't watch it.

Figured there were only 3 possible outcomes.

Success - watch it on You tube
Failure - Don't bother to watch it at all.
Blazing fireball of death - Watch it on the news.

I thought it was great to see a little spontaneity and real character on TV.

And come on, he was great value, as were his crew.

And I'm glad it was aimed at family audiences, it's a fairground ride after all.
I enjoyed it as a 46 year old, but if I was 8 I'd probably have exploded.
