What easy girl said.

Can't say I agree with it but with the explosion in online fraud and the huge cuts in police resources it's a very sad fact that things have to give.

I've just looked at Notts website though and it doesn't say a great deal. It starts by saying that they treat all fraud seriously but then directs you to Action Fraud.

But -like I say I think it's pretty appalling.

The thing is, you don't know if he sent the pizzas to his home address- it could have been to his scummy mates or anywhere he won't get caught.

The only answer is kill everyone involved. 😈

Sneak into his bedroom while he is sleeping and wedge a chocolate button between his bum cheeks.

Have people got any idea how they do it? I'm aware of spyware/Malware, but I assumed that's usually international gangs, with a bit more money/organisation than a local scrote.

I agree with some points here, what is worrying is that he seems to have a gift of emptying your account which is by any means not a feat usually affiliated with your normal scummy scrote who would be daft enough to reveal his address and have a Facebook account in that name, the lad may have been hacked along with you by a third party, think the fraud squad need to sort it out, hope you get your money back.

It's utter rubbish that this fraud isn't taken seriously by the police! Jeez what's the point?? For the future though, this website is quite good at checking your password strength https://howsecureismypassword.net/ There are no nasties in the code to worry about.

Hope you get it sorted out.

monkeychild Don't think it's about password strength, unless you link to software generating a new password every time?. OP appears to have made a reasonable effort on password.

One of the problems is that many folk use the same password for everything. You then use that to log on to something (seemingly) innocuous and some clever or lucky enough can get it from there.

Just reading up on password cracking in an effort to improve my password

http://lifehacker.com/5937303/your-clever-password-tricks-arent-protecting-you-from-todays-hackers

I never use same passwords on anything containing monetary details, that would be silly!

Could be from: key loggers, xss, malware........ Do you do any personal stuff on open wifi? As that's an ace way for folk to meander onto your system.

This is what I think, I do all financial stuff only on my comp at home and reasonably often scan it with all the stuff I've learnt from here over the years, malwarebytes, ccleaner, adwcleaner, mbar etc. I'm a bit sheet on password management, but not had any issues.

According to the password checker above....

It would take a desktop PC about
4 septillion years
to crack your password

And that's just the one I use for here, my proper passwords are a lot more secure 🙂

Anti virus and anti malware is only good if the companies know it exist! Being aware and cautious is the main problem.

We have some malware which was done in house by a colleague to demo as part of the cyber awareness course I've started delivering. Upto date anti virus etc doesn't pick it up. But it's good at nicking people's logins, screen grabs and access to their files. Makes our candidates think about it.

Prime example of daftness, I bought my Chromebook off eBay, the woman gave me her google login (taped to the box) as she didn't know how to clear it. I had access to her entire online life. Luckily for her, I am not a criminal so I told her and suggested she changed her passwords.

Fair enough, but does that relate to the serious international gangs work, rather than local IT chav chancers? which appears to be the case here. Not down playing it, but appears to be different circumstances in this case.

I have the great misfortune to live in Hatfield. Whole town is an absolute shit hole and your fraudster is living in one of the worst bits. Go chance they are East-Europeans since most of that area is these days. Don't even think about going anywhere near there unless you have slept in your clothes for 3 weeks and have vomited vodka over yourself...

You have to report it to the police, pun intended it would be criminal of you not to. Perhaps they won't do much but why not wait and see ?

Did he really guess your password or have you a virus / trogan ?

PS: when you go to the Police, try hinting that you have some Lithuanian pals. The Police are scared of Lithuanians, my PC neighbour told me. There's a community of them in Nelson and Colne who work in a big slaughterhouse and they have a reputation for taking matters into their own hands.

Not wanting to topic hijack. But in a lot of aspects yes. They will use scripts that lurk in webpage code, hide files in the bit torrent? Games patches that aren't from the vendor? The crims and the dude in the bedroom are just as clever as each other.

This guy was a bedroom attacker (s****)

I'm stealing your internetz

Check out these videos (its not conspiracy theories)

But they highlight the points of being aware of your own footprint and trusting online.
