Does anyone use any of the Green Powder Supplements that seem to be growing in popularity . It seems to be that Athletic Greens is the gold standard brand but costs around £70 a month for a daily serving . Has anyone got any experience of feeling any benefits of using these and maybe suggestions for a better value green powder that still provides quality ingredients . Thanks STW .
£70 would buy you a lot of fruit and veggies every month. And fresh Food comes with the added benefit of lots of fibre and real antioxidants.
I mean I take supplements, ZMA and omega 3 etc but they don’t cost that sort of money and just supplement what I am already getting from a regular diet.
I would much rather just eat more green veggies - tasty and help fill you up too with low calorie density.
Sorry didn’t answer your question.
^ +1 I’d also caution against throwing money away at snake oils

Mrs P used to be into all that kind of stuff, spirulina powder* that year, then barley grass another. Said she didn’t really notice any particular benefits and stopped buying them. The knock-on result of that was instead a nice meal out once in a while!
Spirulina (I read) is an interesting food source re food-security in developing countries because of comparative low land-use/high yield. As an (expensive) food-supplement I believe it’s still poorly-regulated and under-researched.
Yeah , think I agree about £70 buying a lot of fruit and veg etc . Maybe a daily smoothie made from varying combinations of greens , beets ,,berries , chia seeds, flax seeds, ginger , turmeric or other good quality ingredients is the way to go .
I don't really get smoothies. I prefer to taste the individual items. Veg with dinner, seeds and berries go well in porridge and with cereals, as for ginger and tumeric - cue this evenings curry.
Spent a lot when I was out of shape on this and other items. My semi-non-pro analysis is they are total bull.
In terms of tracking what had most bang for buck in order of aiding getting better shape for me was:
Drinking enough water
Sleeping more
Cycling more
Rest days
Lifting weight
Cut out fried and processed food
Eat leaves / green veg and lean meat at decent times
Pinkbike yoga / stretching routines
Any sort of caffeine from tea / coffee / free tea
Dark chocolate
Refusing to attend stupid meetings and working late when it wasn’t 200% essential
Sauna / steam room
Having more money in bank account
I’d go as far as saying many of the green leaf and powder smoothies containing spirulina / matcha / freeze dry la la have an adverse effect. Usually due to the hidden sweetener or calories that get consumed in seconds while you drink them, still leaving you hungry. As a result it’s harder to hit calorie deficit. Tablets alone won’t do this but made zero difference to my training weight loss, while adversely hitting my bank account.
Having a green tea 20 mins before hitting watt bike class though - bam!
Bonus tip - one month of high end tablets was about the same as a Jedi MTB course day! That was worth every penny.
Don't listen to them. Give me £65 a month and I will send you a £15 box of veggies*.
*This was an idea I got from the government scheme for free school meals during lockdown.
