I have one of these. Bought for about £60 at an airport somewhere or other I seem to remember. Years ago. Well over a decade ago.

Not powered by anything as crude as a battery, I'm sure of it. It seems to go on for ever, and ever, and ever. Will be terrible when I have to replace it!

Flash, is that not a laydeeee's wris****ch? For feminine wrists?
😉
Have to admit I'm very tempted by more than a few of these, as long as I can fit them round my rather skinny arm

You feeky little chucker!

It's pretty large, actually, but not in the stupidly large sizes many watches are appearing in now!

Protrek and Gshock are nice. Casio are my most trusted watch brand.
However for the more discerning gent, you really should consider a nice Oceanus:

TITANIUM:TICK
ATOMIC:TICK
ANALOGUE:TICK

Also has saphire crystal and an alarm.
Best watch ever.

Had but three G-shocks over the last 20 years, one lost, one the strap pin holes wore through, and now this beauty:

[img] [/img]

Big clear numbers, simple display.

Never buy a watch that can't be used as a hammer.

I have this for walks and cycling, though an HRM is coming so will use it sporadically when that arrives I would think.

I have this: [img] [/img]
G-056b

Don't like wearing a watch while cycling, so it's getting used as my normal watch. I have a titanium Citizen for the business casual look 😉 and a Atlantic Worldmaster for when I need to wear a suit.

Three watches might seem like overkill for some, but for me it's like having 3 bikes (mtb, cx and a road bike) :-). The Atlantic would look stupid while wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Citizen is the most versatile watch, however it's too nice to wear it as an every day watch. The g-shock makes me look younger as well 😉

Incorrect - paulosoxo wins! What's that model?

It was a DW-9200K from 1997/98

Bawbag, what's that?

It's a GW-M5600BC. Solar charge and radio sync so zero maintenance.

I've got a G-7710-1. Worn every day, it's the only watch I've had that's lasted, aside from one of the original Animal watches which went on for years.

I have a DW5900 and a G7710, the DW5900 must be around 20 years old now, it's fairly basic on functions but to this day it is still going strong.

I guess this is about the only G-Shock I've found that I would actually buy, although I'd get adaptors and swap the strap for a NATO nylon one; plastic straps give me a rash.
[img] [/img]

[edit] that Oceanus is nice, although its still got three too many dials for my liking... 😀
[edit edit] How much! Just had a Google, and they've been discontinued, now called Edifice. Still going for over £700!
I'll stick with the £50 one I posted up. My Seiko was only £350, by comparison to the Oceanus.

Yeah, it's not exactly subtle.
Think it was a design exercise to show how many colours they could use.

Photo of my new one and old one and no, i don't wear thenm both at the same time 🙂

Have been a fan of G Shocks for a while. I've just sold two that i've had a draw for years - surprising the level of interest they generate.

Loving the new watch - analogue (nice for a change), solar (no battery changes) and atomic (never losses a second).

i got a gshock for my 18th birthday off my uncle

within a month fixing the horn on my car i managed to rip the strap off .....

it managed to create a bending moment between my wrist and back of my hand and im sure that caused or at least helped me to break my scaphoid the dent and scar its left in the back of my hand is still there to the day.

I managed to break the strap AGAIN

then the alarm stopped working and i threw it in the bin . for my 21st i got a titanium seiko of my grand parents - its nice.

what do i wear every day without fail .... f91.

some nice bits of kit here but i couldnt ride in them , too big

My G-Shock - Always the right time, solar power, nice easy to read simple clear dial compared to some, bombproof. I work in the trade and have had, and broken, some nice watches from "better" brands over the years but this ones going to last I reckon!

Loving this thread!

My one is the gw-m5600, which I don't think can be faulted. Never loses a second, is powered by light and the light comes on automatically:

Enjoying bawbag's and andeh's version too.
