Like most things in life, romantic success requires 1) effort (going up to people, online dating and sending 100s of messages, etc) and 2) luck.
I'm single at 35, but I fully accept it as I'm a lazy unlucky bastard ๐
I feel enormously lucky (38, she's 40s). Neither of us was looking for anything meaningful, but we seem to have struck gold in a rather unlikely online location. I think my take-home is along the lines of "be pleasant, open and considerate to all persons. One of them may turn out to be a gorgeous, fascinating woman who will completely change your life and teach you that everything you thought you knew to justify your middle-aged cynicism about love and relationships is radically incorrect".

I was never one to have the confidence to chat to a lady i didn't know to ever get anywhere, i'd been lucky to have met some great ladies in younger life, but most had started as friends first.
I met my now when wife when she literally fell into my lap, at 27 then (41 now), i'd come back from travelling in Africa, broke and took the first job that came my way that also had accommodation, which was working as a chef at one of the Aussie Walkabout pubs, i'd finished work and had gone for a beer with a couple of the aussie lads at a few of the other surrounding pubs, after we walked back to Walkabout and there was two young ladies that my mate took a shine to in the taxi queue outside, he invited them in for an after hours drink and my wife to be, ended up dancing on a table (she is 6 years younger than me, and it was her Freshers Week!) when she fell off and literally landed on me.
Been married for 10 years this year.
The secret to a happy marriage? Realising there was no point in ever arguing as my wife IS always right!!
